Looking for a (Lap Band) Dr in South Africa
Hi All I am going to be in Cape Town from Dec to end of Jan. I have very good restriction at the moment - so do not want an asperation before my flight, which I am sure my nurse will want me to have. I need a to find a Dr in Cape Town just incase I have an issue when I get there due to the very long flight from the UK. Can anyone help please? Thanks

Do have Mirena?
Just last week Dr tried to remove mine without knocking me out but had to stop because i had such severe spasms (cramps) that she had to stop. I am now booked to have it removed and replaced next month with local anaethestic (sp??). I have had it for nearly five years and never checked for threads and my partner has never mentioned feeling anything. It was the best for my very heavy periods and I only ever have a very slight one for about 2 day each month. With regards to pmt WHATS THE F ING HELL IS THAT!!! I don't have it surely it must be HIM!

Fill under Xray
Hi can someone please explain what they do when you have a fill done under Xray? Do you get to see your port and your band? Thanks

Pain around port?
Hi Lacasst I have had something similar, but because I have only hand my band since 3rd Dec I had put it down to trapped wind. "Trapped wind!" says my partner, "you've been farting like a trooper!!How could you still have anything trapped??!" Let me know what you find out from your dr. A

change of heart
I was waiting to go into surgury on 3rd Dec and whilst waiting to go into the OT I think I would have walked out, if only I was not so scared to pull out my drip! So here i am with a band and can only say that the op and recovery time was not as bad as I thought. I am still healing but I am sure that it was the right decision for me. Good luck on whatever you decide you already know in your hearts of hearts what you are going to do.

Gaining weight when switched to solids?
I am just two weeks after band placement and starting to feel hungry. Doc said this is mormal as the swelling of surgery is starting to go down, so yes healing. I am not eating as much as pre op and if I keep portions down to this size I will be at goal weight in not time. I have 1st fill booked 13th Jan, lets hope the 5kg I lost stays off until then.

scared
Hi Snappi, I am going through the exact same emotions, I am being banded on the 3rd Dec. I have not been able to stop eating, its like a farewell to food eating. I have been reading these boards of months now and I am convinced that I am making the right decision. One minute I am all positive and then go and scare myself by watching the operation itself and reading all the problems people are having with their bands. So no, you are not alone Ash

Great results
OMG that is a great loss, you must be ecstatic. I have my operation scheduled for 3rd Dec and can't wait, only problem is I cannot stop eating! Ash

Hi, I am not banded yet - just doing some research. So my question to all you low carb bandits is, what did you have post op? I can;t think of any low carb liquids, soups or even cold drinks to have. Thanks for reading. K

Such a major decision - so much information - such a huge cost hellllllllp
Hi All, Just so you know that I am between a rock and a very fat place! Is there any support groups that meet in either Central London or Hertfordshire area that I could speak to people, face to face (me technophobe). I know I want a lap band fitted, but not sure which surgeon, what package - does it include include aftercare and are the fills included in this and what country to have it done in! Then just to throw a spanner in the works I get a call from India, Forerunners Healthcare to say that they have an all inclusive pack for 6300 US Dollars and my partner can stay in my room with me whilst I am recovering - 4/5 days after surgery. Please, those of you who have had your surgery will probably know how difficult a decision this is, so your comments will be most appreciated. Also the NHS is not an option, my BMI is 35.4 and I have no underling illnesses :tt2: Thanks A
