Has anyone else had a problem with body odor..... I can smell my self and it burns my eyes and nose it is so sharp. I was banded 4/11 and have lose 40 #'s since surgery. I have a wound from infection and having my port removed but I use a wound vac and the odor does not seem to be worse when we change the dressing. Even within minutes of showering I notice the smell again. I have to see my doc monday but thought I would get some imput from all of you as well. This is really annoying. Help anyone.

Thanks:wub:

Nope, I haven't had any types of problem with this. Could it have anything to do with the infection that is running through your body? I just have no idea. Let us know what your doctor says.

I don't know what it's called and if it's something you can just suddenly develop, but a friend of mine always smelled horrible. I always thought she just had bad hygiene, but she showered at my house once and even used my body splash.. and she still smelled really funky.. so it ends up it was something about her, I googled it years ago, forget what it was now.. just some disorder.

Saw a talk show with a woman who always smelled like tuna no matter what too..

It could just be ketosis. It can produce a sour smell. It is not uncommon to have while losing weight, especially if you aren't eating a lot of carbs. It is normally not anything to worry about, but you might want to discuss it with your doctor.

I bet this is wound related... your wound may have tissue that needs to be removed. Are you on an antibiotic? Did you get the wound vac through a wound care specialist or nurse - what do they say??

There is a cream your can get for wounds that have a foul odor, it's called MetroGel. It's actually a cream made for rosacea - but has been found to control the smell of wounds. Perhaps you can ask your doctor about this if it continues.

Hugs, I hope your wound heals soon.

Not knowing if the odor is coming from the wound or not, I do know that years ago my husband had body odor so strong it was impossible to cuddle. He could take a shower and towel off and smell strong again. We read somewhere that he should take 10 - 30 mg of zinc per day as a dietary supplement and amazingly it took the odor away. He took it for several years and the odor went away. One of our sons, upon reaching the teen years developed the same problem and taking zinc cured him also. Hope this is of some help. Simon

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
