Hi,

I was banded at TLBC April 5/07.

I've lost 80 lbs so far, and would like to lose about 20 more.

Best thing I have ever done. Feel free to ask any questions.

Alex

frypan: log onto canadianlapbanders.com website. That is a site that the TLBC and SWLC patients use. Others are of course using it and are welcome. But if you want to learn about the support groups that is the place. Good luck on your journey.

frypan,

the whole process is a breeze....It takes some getting use to and so far I have no regrets. I was banded by DR Yau May 1 08 and have lost 21lbs. Getting started and going through the "healing" stage takes time but after that the lbs start to come off. A side from the occasional PBing I can't complain.

Feel free to ask any questions.

thank you - i jut did the pro op blood work and doctors form i start the pre op diet on the 10th and my surgery is the 24th - i read good things just a bit scared

frypan what is worrying you. If you are specific, maybe we can help ease those concerns or at least direct you back to your clinic. I personally was scared. But not the operation, but the fact I would never eat my favorite foods, that I couldn't live on a cup of food a day, my hair would fall out, afraid of failure even with the band, and the long term future of the band. Even when I climbed on the op table, my heart jumped with fear of the unknown, but when I woke up, I was all smiles and I am still all smiles. I have had issues about communication, finding another fill doctor but my love the the band has never wavered. I lose .79 lbs per week and to me that is a huge victory. Please let us know what is bothering you maybe we can help put the concerns to rest.

thankyou im scared yep i wont eat anything i like or ill eat to much of what i like and it wont work and ive done all this for nothing

Frypan. I would suggest to you that you can eat anything you like except not a lot of it. A recent study has indicated that individuals that track their food accurately every day lose weight.

I use www.fitday.com every meal and snack. I won't be neglectful by omitting foods because the only person I hurt is myself.

I even factor in a bit of ice cream and potato chips. By knowing what I am consuming I know when to tread softly when it comes to what I eat that day. Try it you may surprise yourself.

  • 3 weeks later...

I was banded on July 25th at TLBC. I've been off work this week, and though I've been up and about around the house from the get go, I'm hoping returning to work will be okay on Tuesday. How much time did you guys take off after being banded?

I am fortunate enough (or unfortunate..lol...home with 4 kids:crying:....no pay) to be off for the summer so I waited until then (July 3rd) to have my surgery. But I think energy wise and tenderness of the incisons, I would have liked 2 weeks off I'd say. I guess it depends on what you do at work that would determine how long to take off. I hope all goes well for you on Tues. Congrats on becoming a Bandster!!!:cursing:
