I was told 4 weeks or until the incisions healed. If they are not healed/closed you can get an infection and major trouble. I saw my doctors 17 days after surgery and I asked him about swimming and I had healed and allowed me to swim that day.

I started swimming about 4 weeks after surgery. But I didn't sit in a hot tub for nearly 2 months. I had no problems.

I think it was 4 weeks as well but I waited longer. I also didn't stay in the Water very long the first time or two.

There is some definite risk in swimming too early. There is also a difference in how well people heal. If you have ever had any indications of infection or any difficulty during the healing stage I would wait longer.

It might be best to take this question to your doctor to get their opinion just to be on the safe side.
