My surgery date was 28APR08... I had my first fill on 27MAY08. Tomorrow will be one week from my fill date and everything thing I eat hurts like I am swallowing a golfball. Is this normal? I am taking small bites and eating slow, it took me at least an hour to drink a protien shake this morning.

Hi candy. I haven't had my first fill yet, so I'm not exactly an expert, but it sounds like you might be a little too tight. Maybe you should call your doctor and let them know what is going on. They may be able to give you a small un-fill to get you to where you need to be.

I was banded 3/25 and had my first fill 5/14. I met the doctor at the hospital the next day for an unfill. He had put in 3cc originally, and took out 1.5cc. I felt the same as you, and it was hard getting Water down. I tried that for a week or two, and then went to his office for another unfill. I had been better but after the first unfill I could drink ok and eat mushies ok, but real food was still giving me discomfort (like I swallowed my fist). I am doing better since the second unfill. I only get unconfortable if I eat too much, and with certain foods, but mostly it is good. If you haven't already I would call your surgeon and let him know. I was miserable. The nurse said I shouldn't have to adapt what I eat around the band. I am still losing, though slowly. I even go to restaurants and order mostly from the appetizer menu, and plan on bringing at least half of that home. I got three meals out of a steamed shrimp appetizer. I am still learning, though. My eyes are bigger than my pouch, so sometimes I overestimate what I can eat.

My doctor says that it should NEVER hurt when eating if you are chewing properly and if it does you need a small unfill. I feel your pain...I have gone through this SEVERAL times and it is NOT fun. I would suggest a small unfill and until then stay on mushies/liquids.

Hi Salsa1877, I am waiting for approval for my band surgery and I was reading through the threads and I see that you were my weight now 250lbs and you lost so nicely!! You are now at my target weight. I would love to know how it was for you, not even 1 year and you lost 100lbs!! That is so wonderful. I wonder - did you also exercise? If so what was your routine? Was it hard to adjust? Were you hungry? What was the hardest thing for you? I would love to hear from you and I wish you a continued success in your journey.

Moriah

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
