Hi,

I am Becky's sister and wanted you to know that her surgery is over and she is doing fine. She is resting, but is alert enough to ask me to post that she will report more tomorrow when she is feeling up to it.

That is great news!!! Please tell her Jody says hi!! My thoughts are with her.

Yeah Becky! I am glad to hear you are out of surgery. I think I have been camped on this page all day...then I leave for lunch and bam it gets posted! It is such a relief to hear you are alert. I am looking to you to be our leader in PS, just as you have been in the weight loss phase!

Becky, so glad to hear your surgery went well and can't wait till you feel up to posting. Take care and let everyone take care of you and put all of your energy into healing. We all have you in our thoughts and prayers!

Frangi, sorry to hear you had a time getting into the hotel, but hopefully some of the pre-PS shopping relaxed you a bit. (retail therapy is always great!) We are all keeping you in out thoughts and prayers too, and we will be anxiously waiting to hear how things go for you too. Best wishes!!!

Yay!!! So glad you are through the surgery part Becky---please be sure to thank your sister for letting us know. I tried to get my DH to do it, and the board just confused the hell outta him, or so he let me believe!!!!

Rest up!

Woo Hoo!!! That's what I wanted to hear. This is a dancing banana event :Banane42::rolleyes2::Banane52::biggrin::Banane17::)

I hope you are resting comfortably tonight Becky -- and thank you so much for updating us Sis!!!

TexasBecky: You are in my prayers today! I know you'll do well!

Fran: I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I'm leaving tonight to see my son perform in Cirque du Soliel in Montreal this weekend. Won't be back until the 25th! You'll all will be doing much better by then. I'll try to check my emails and see how you're doing. Welcome to the flatlands!

Have a great time Karey! We'll miss you -- thanks again for all of your excellent advice and support!!!

:smile::smile::smile:

Thank you so much Go J !!!

Best of luck Frangi! Now your day is here. Call when you are ready!

Thanks Jody, I will be in touch as soon as I possibly can :smile::smile:!

Well, I have just a few things left to do, but I am (more or less) set for the big day. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 AM and the Dr. thinks that it will take approximately 5 - 6 hours. I will be in the hospital until Monday, but LadyBugRed (aka Jody) will post an update for me.

Thanks again everyone for all of the wonderful support and well wishes.

Talk to you soon!

Frangi you are probably already under anesthesia as I type this. I can imagine that your brain is drifting to all the sales at Stein Mart. 6 hours of dreaming about shopping...could be worse!!! Here is to a speedy recovery.

Becky- Hope you are feeling alright!!!

Hey everybody, it is actually me; doped up but it is me. I'm sitting at the desk in my hospital room and feeling pretty good considering. So far it is not as painful as I'd expected. Mostly because I've been taking the meds on a strict schedule to keep it from getting out of control.

Can't tell much yet except everything feels really tight and flat! I'm going to get out of my binder this evening long enough to take a shower, so I'm looking forward to getting a peak at things.

Thanks for checking on me one and all. I'll keep you posted as I can. Right now I'm just anxious to hear about Frangi. I'm sure with the GYN work she is also having that she's going to be more miserable than she otherwise would. My best advice is stay well medicated!!!!

Hope this all makes sense. I'll check back later. Becky

Doped up and still using proper punctuation! Glad to hear you are doing well. Gives me hope. Are you on IV med or just oral meds? I am hoping just oral cause that is all I am having!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
