I'd like to have a bandster buddy

Recommended Posts

I've been banded since April 3rd. I'd be happy to helpnewbies, but I think I need a buddy who has more experience with the band too. The three month mark is fast approaching. I've got the liquid, mushy and solid stages down pat. Now I need help with what else I can eat. Also, someone that could help motivate me, and someone I could motivate would be great.

Sounds good. Let's be bandster buddies. What part of the country are you in? I'm in Texas. How has your bandster journey been thus far?

Hello

My email address is c_monestime@yahoo.com

My journey started in November 2007 I reached my highest weight of 300 pounds. My sugar level was out of controll for the past eight years I was told if I don't do something now then I can suffer as I get older with Diabetics so what do you want to do. He suggested lapband for me and after three months of apppointments here I am. The first three weeks were tough far as eating and adjusting, but the sugery went well with no complications. I lost 19 pounds the first five weeks, then another six pounds so I am 25 pounds or 275 pounds now. But it has been a struggle to eat the right things in the past two weeks. I now can eat what I want but for the past week all I want is sweets. I ate my first slice of bread yesterday in three months. All went well just want to stay on track. My small goals is to lose 20 pounds before I go back to the doctors a small goal for me. So I started back on step 4 to slow me down on my eating and cheating on foods. Any suggestions?

What I've been doing is staying away from all carbs with exception to potatoes and the carbs in cheese. I occaisionally will have a whole wheat tortilla. Outside of that, I eat a lot of salad and chicken. I like beef too, but if it's not hamburger meat, it takes forever for me to chew it. I eat a lot of steamed veggies, Sugar Free Chocolate pudding, sugar free apple sauce, and of course the occaisional protien shake. I'm seeing a nutritionist and she told me to begin adding almonds to my diet. I will start doing that today.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
