I'm so happy to see this tread. I've been reading quite a bit on this site and really appreciate everyone being open to sharing. I'm scheduled for Nov.22. I will start liquid diet 1 week from today. I'm excited, nervous, but mostly anxious to get on with it. I've lost tons of weight (almost literally) oever my lifetime only to regain it ++. I know what to do to lose it but apparently, keeping it off isn't my strong point. I'm excited about having this extra help to hopefully, finally, lose the weight one last time.

Greetings!!

As a matter of fact, Janet, I have been to the gym, I bet you didn't think I had. I am a little peeved at them right now though, so many changes in the 6 weeks or so that I've been. They no longer let you check in with your card and want to finger print everyone and then you scan a finger each time and enter a code. I'm not sure I am comfortable with that, they said I could show a photo id if I refused. Then the locker rooms they removed all the digital locks from the lockers, I loved those cause I didn't have to bring a lock with me. And took out paper towels, changed the class schedule around, etc. But, alas, I will just have to deal.

Apples, I hope things are improving with your son since you met with him a few times. I pray he is doing well. Also, that your mouth is pain free today.

Julie, sending pain free vibes your way too.

Cheri, healing vibes your way! (and LauraK).

Laura, enjoy your night off. You sure have gotten busy lately.

I think we have decided to go to Memphis on Sunday. DH had to go on MOnday for work so we are going a day early on our own. I have two objectives, one is to rent a car and drive to Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas all look very close and actually the hotel I am looking at booking is in MS, that will complete my 50 state Quest. The other is I thought it would be cool to see Graceland. Elvis was a little before my time but still very popular and I heard that the future of Graceland is uncertain because the next generations hardly know of him and aren't interested in it. Starting Monday DH is staying downtown Memphis at the Peabody which sounds like a neat hotel. I will stay one night with him and then go from there to Denver to see Grandma on Tues. Just gotta go see if I can book everything including the dogs at the boarding place.

Welcome Mebutbetter....I think we could all say that we have lost tons of weight over the years but just could not keep that weight off. I know that I would lose and feel so good and then gain it all back and then some.

I bet you are excited for this life change. I remember the feeling. I have been at goal for 2 yrs and still can say that this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Anything at all, we will try to help. Wishing you luck!:)

Geeeesh...I didn't know a person could get soooooooo crabby from missing out on sleep. Yep, that's me today.

I think I have had ENOUGH of EVERYTHING. At least that is the way I am feeling. Whine, whine, whine.

Feel better Apples.

Laura, good to hear from you again. You are doing well. Beating yourself up never helps you lose weight.

All newbies joining in--welcome. Keep coming back.

Worked today. Had major gas problems but otherwise OK. There was no place safe today to go fart. The smell traveled or people walked right through what was an empty spot--including the principal. Struggled to keep a straight face as people reacted and not give away the source. People asked if Phillip was around, a student with a known intestinal issue. Went home early and howled in my car most of the way home with laughter tears washing away all my mascara. Funny. Farts are always funny. Stopped at a health food store and picked up some SF Kefir. Took it home and added some splenda. Hopefully, it'll regulate my intestines.

Also picked up some Biotin. Can help with Sjogren's dry eye and mouth syndrome as well as nails, hair, and scalp.

Well, wanna run to Kohl's for a pants exchange before church choir tonight.

Well Cheri....at least you can see the humor in it:blush: Poor Phillip...taking the rap:angry: Hope the Kefir helps and that you don't add to the "music" during chior tonight.:frown:

LOL Apples. Hopefully those live cultures in the Kefir will restore my system. Tasted good too. Might make that part of my daily diet. Without sugar added its very low glycemic. With the splenda it tastes great. Can maybe add my own flavors.

Cheri...Is the Kerfir a Greek Yogurt???? Never heard of it. I puree fresh or frozen fruit that adds a lot of flavor to plain yogurt. When I'm lazy, I add some SF pudding mix.

Finally the catchup....

Cheri...you had me rolling again. I agree, farts are funny but I'm so sorry you suffer with them so badly. I found the inulin information interesting. That's what's in Fiber Choice and why I fart in the morning so much.

Larua, hey your busy life is great. You have a wonderful family and you aren't bored. I love your attitude also, it says you are good with yourself and that is absolutely part of the battle. Hey a free night...what will you do with yourself?

Jodi, take care of that fill. Don't want you hurting yourself. So did I read you turned down the job or that you didn't get the offer and are good with that?

Apples, I had to go back a ways to catch up with the posts and read you had to put your flowers to sleep for the winter....but they need to sleep so they will be beautiful next year. You can have flowers when you get to AZ....something blooms here all year. Sorry about your mouth being really sore. Did you know your mouth is one of the fastest healing parts of your body? By tomorrow it should be doing better.

LauraK, sorry you got the crud. Hope you are feeling better. I love yoga when I do it regularly. I'm stiff and all that stretching feels really good. Did I read something about a date?

Great, camo with pink eyelets? That baby is going to be the best (or maybe strangest) dressed baby in Denver. I want to go to Memphis. We actually might drive through on our way to Ohio. Depends on some of the other stops. You certainly have me beat for states. I should be able to add a couple more to my list. I'd love it if you can come to Tucson while Apples is here. That would be GREAT!...LOL

Arlene, aren't they pushing the Christmas dinner thing a little? I bet your table dressing looks awesome though. Can't wait to see pictures. Your GK's were so cute in their costumes. Are you feeling better with FM? Congrats at winning at bunco. I've never played that and would like to.

Melissa, have you started journaling? I need to do that too. I'm just starting the regular walking then I'm going to add one good habit a week until I have this stuff down like clockwork. People are going to be people and although Cheri's suggestion to throw the stuff in the garbage in front of them would probably get the message across, I don't think I could do that either....I'd have to wait until they weren't watching. Then throw the stuff out. I'm getting so much better at that.

Julie, loved the wedding pictures and those little girls. I hope they are happy and live a long and joyous life. Turning your sleep patterns around is hard. I like being a night owl, but it's much more productive to be awake during the day. I was up until 12:30 last night and slept until 7 this morning. DH had to make his own coffee....don't you just feel sorry for him....LOL.

Janet, I'm glad you are back safe and sound. I hope the visit with your sister helped resolve some of your issues with her. Wish it could be under better circumstances, but it is what it is. Give the dogs a pat from me....

Linda, you must be completely overwhelmed right now too. Hope all is well. Did you take DGD trick or treating?

TX, congrats on your progress. It's great to be where you are.

Phyl, how are you feeling? I hope that crud runs its course and leaves you alone. The weather should be almost perfect there...it is here.

Sorry to anyone I've missed. It's hard to keep up.

I've got another project to attend to...be back later.

Eva

Eva...yes, the mouth heals in an amazingly short time. It is all worth it. I think my foul mood is cuz I cannot eat. I'm used to eating every hour. But I'm doing mushies and it's going good. Just not as satisfying as real food.

Yeah....where is our Linda????? Hope we don't have to start worrying. Hope DSD is doing OK. That's the first thing I think of when she is missing for a bit.

LauraK...hope you are having a wonderful time on your date. Your new avatar photo is cute. You are just a cutie-petutie.

OK...all the fluffing you girls are talking about. Didn't that get better with time with you after having the LB surgery? I know I was miserable for about six months but then my system adjusted. I think your body has to get used to the amount of Fiber and Probiotics. If a person is vigilant about getting some of each every day, things even out. Right? At least that's how it is for me.

Every time a put a Fiber One Bar in DH and DS's lunch boxes, they think I am trying to blow them up or something. I believe if they had one each day, their system would be fine. Just my take on it.

Hi everyone. Just checking in after a couple of very busy days. Unfortunately, I haven’t lost any weight but the good news is I haven’t gained any either. I have either worked with my trainer or jogged every day this week. Tomorrow is a rest day because I have the hot chocolate 5K run on Saturday. It benefits Ronald McDonald House. The race is sold out so we are expecting 30,000 to run. It is being held in Grant Park and the after party is, you guessed it, hot chocolate and other assorted chocolate concoctions. It should be fun.

Julie, I loved the pictures.

Apples, hand in there. It will all be worth it when it’s over.

Janet, Glad your visit went well.

LauraK, didn’t you recently have a date? How was it.

Charlene, you are doing awesome. You seem to handle things well.

I am going to rest. After work I ran 1.5 miles and then brushed my teeth to go to the orthodontist. He said we can talk about removing my braces at my next visit. I am so ready to be done with this. Did I mention, I also had braces as a kid and this was my second go around?15_4_105v.gif

Eva, the Holiday dinner is for Thanksgiving or Christmas table. I chose Christmas because I just like the colors better. Every room in my house has red and green in it. Do you receive pictures on your text? I send you a pic.

Cheri, I LMAO at your story about gas today. I told Dr. Davis he had to get me off the shake diet or I was going to have to stop going anywhere. My gas was unbelievable. These Athlete's Honey Milk light Protein drinks are lactose free......therefore I am gas free when I drink them. I think probiotics help with gas too. I guess you had to blame your gas on a kid because I am sure dogs are not allowed. lol

Great, enjoy your trip. How awesome to have visited all 50 states. Our church is starting the finger print thing this Sunday for our children's church. It is a security thing. We have to provide our own lock at LA Fitness. I couldn't open it one day. I knew my combination, but it wouldn't open. Whew! A lady in my class tried it and it opened. I was dreading having to walk out in my bathing suit in to the gym to get one of those "hunks" to help me.

Apples, I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. HUGS! on your pain.

Laura.....You are one busy lady! I bet you are dropping the lbs.

Linda......where are you?

Well, I did not get a fill because I was slimming over my egg white pancake. I have been so hungry all day. I will give it one more week and see what happens. I want a fill before Thanksgiving.

What? Did I just write that? Boy, my mindset is changing.

Goodnight peeps!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
