Chatty chatty girls.....

I'm watching my cat chase her tail...she's catching it too...pretty funny.

Happy Birthday Arlene...you are in very good company this month, my sister, husband, father, and some very good friends all have birthdays this month!! Hope you have a wonderful day.

As usual lately, I'm pretty booked up. Work is really busy again, my sister is coming back from Texas tomorrow and I'll pick her up from the airport. I have more shopping to do for FNSC. I did some of it tonight. And I'm making birthday cards. I haven't made any in a while, I just haven't been inspired, but I'm making myself do it and I still enjoy it.

Okay...sorry short post and of course it's all about me.

JODI, best wishes for you tomorrow. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you tomorrow.

LauraK congrats on the size 10...way cool.

LauraA...we need to figure out how to do our challenge.

Okay, time for sleep. Take care everyone.

Eva

Morning ladies, I've just got a couple minutes before leaving for Bismarck.. I have PT this morning.... the last one scheduled for right now... Don't know if they will continue or not.... Anyway, the road report says the highway is wet, so I'm hoping for a safe trip. We'll see I guess... DH doesn't work so he will be here with Mimi until I get home... She comes at 10:00..... It shouldn't take me long as I really don't have any shopping to do.... A little stop at Wal-mart for eggs and jerky.....

Jodi, hope you have a real good day and are home resting very soon.... Best wishes............ you're on your way.....

Eva, you take it easy..... You work so hard and then are so busy otherwise, too.... take care of yourself....

You all have a good day.... talk to you when I get home.. Julie

Good Morning Gang

It's windy here ... I dislike the wind immensely

Mex shrimp cocktail

V-8 juice (I like the spicey one) cooked shrimp - avocado - green onion - red onion - cilantro - cucumber - catsup (sp)

I don't measure - so here's what you do

Take a bowl about 3 or 4 cans of the small v8 you can use the regular or spicy or both and put in bowl - add shrimp - add avocado (cubed) diced red onion and cucumbers and sliced green onion and sliced cliantro and a little catsup to taste - I like mine with the spicy/sweet taste - then let sit for a while so the flavors mix and whala you have mex shrimp cocktail - You can use clammatoe instead of v8 - but I don't I like the v8

Jodie Thinking of you this a.m - Hugs & prayers again..

Julie safe trip...

it's 5:53 I should have been in the shower 10 minutes ago..

Work ugh...

MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE:

I went to the gym!

Holy cow, they almost didn't recognize me. Both b/c of the weight loss and I haven't been in a while...LOL. Was a nice pick me up. I did 30 min on threadmill @ 3.3. Then did 50 situps and stretched. Then did 2 arm machines and 2 leg. Didn't want to overdo it. I know with just those weights I will be sore. Lost so much strength in the 2 months I haven't been there. If you don't use it, you lose it. Was back to 220 this morning. We were supposed to go out tonight to eat but I canceled. I don't want to eat out for a while. I always overdo the calories. dh understands.

I am sweaty and need to hop in the shower, just wanted to share my news. I am going to try to go every day for the rest of the week.

Eva~ I guess we'll just post weights each week and watch. : ) <game face on>

Love and hugs to everyone~~~ peasout, Laura

Janet...thanks for sharing the recipe. Sounds good. I like the spicy V-8 so will make it with that. Both DH and I love shrimp cocktail and have it at least once a week. We are going to try your version this weekend.

Good Morning to all....Well, our Jodi is most likely well on her way to being banded this morning. I'm pretty sure I can speak for all of us in saying it's been a real joy to get to know her. Her posts are so interesting. Looking forward to following her every step of the way. (Yes, Jodi...talking about you like you are not here). And to all of you bandsters....we feel that way about each and every one of you!

Janet...we live on the plains and wind is something we deal with about 80% of the time. I really dislike wind. hair spray is my friend.

Boy I am sore this morning. My abs and thighs certainly got a workout yesterday. One thing I like about the C25k is you workout one day and rest the next. Then you rest all weekend. I was so sleepy last night I went to bed @ 8:30. As soon as Jake was in bed. I told my husband I found a track at school and used it yesterday. He said "you ran in front of people?". He knows me all too well. I was hoping there was no one there but there were 2 women and a man using the track. I didn't pass the women much but the man was shuffling along. Barely walking at all so I passed him several times. I was anxious about it the first time around but after that I was so sweaty and heated it didn't matter much to me. I was just trying to get to the next step.

Thanks NYSparkle for the proverb. I am hoping for a change in luck this go round.

Well off to micro. Have a great day.

Jodi - We are all excited and happy for you. Hope all went smoothly.

Laura - congrats on return to the gym

OK - I'm a newbie and can't remember everyones names and comments, but

the shrimp mex cocktail sounds great and I had read that shrimp would be a no/no with the band. Glad to hear that's NOT the case.

I'm unable to make the ticker appear. But I'm pleased to have lost 17 lbs. since this journey began. My goal is a total of 65 lbs. so I'm on my way.

First fill will be 4/7.

Joyce...congrats on the 17lbs. I do not use a ticker...choose not to. I just would post once in awhile on my weightloss.

As far as the list of band unfriendly food....we all got the list. I remember shrimp and popcorn being on mine and was upset to think that they were out of my life forever. I eat shrimp and popcorn both. Just be careful when you introduce new foods. They are on that list for a reason and things some banded ppl have trouble with. Does not mean you will. Shrimp is very dense and chew, chew, chew.

I have a very loose band and there are some things that others with a tighter band can tolerate but I cannot. Some things that get to me are muffins, bread and I get stuck on cake...go figure. But, I never get stuck on meats or seafood. We are all different in what we can and cannot eat. You might find that you get stuck on something like tuna but the next time you try, it's OK. Just have to introduce foods and see how you handle them. You just learn to live with what works for you.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
