Recommended Posts

Ok everyone it's been a long while since i have been on here and that's because i had a baby now 10 months ago, it was only 4 months after my band which was my first surgery that i ended up pregnant my baby is a blessing but now trying to do all the things i was doing before the baby like exercising, preparing my foods and eating right has went out of the door my band doctor said i need to have all the saline taken out to eat enough for the baby and me while i was pregnant, which after that i heard some woman didn't have to have that done so i don't know.... but it just seems like i can't get back on track i lost all my pregnancy weight so i was back where i left off but i just can't seem to eat correct or exercise like i was when i had more then enough time before my baby......Also it seems like i can't get to my proper fill without throwing up either cause i'm eating the wrong foods, not chewing enough, or just i'm too tight ! SO can someone please give me some advice ! I know my problems but i just can't seem to correct them HELP ME PLEASE !!!!:confused::thumbup::confused::lol:

msheavensent i'm right where you are. I just had my li'l girl on April 5th and now I'm starting over. It is really hard but I keep coming to these boards for support and I pretty much pretend like I'm newly banded. I have to remind myself of all the band rules again. I am getting another fill on Thursday and I think I am really close to my sweet spot again. Being on maternity leave makes it harder because I am at home and think about food all the time. I am trying hard to excercise more and drink lots of Water.< /p>

Good luck.

Hey ! you and I have the same story. I was banded on July 10, 2006. Had a baby surprise and delivered my handsome and awesome son on June 24th 2007. He just turned 11 months old! Anyways. when i found out that i was pregnant i did not want to get all my Fluid out of the band. i gained a lot of weight with my other two children. But, i did have to have some removed because i was too tight. When my baby was 6 weeks old i went back to be filled. started working out more (kept working out during my pregnancy) * also, before i was pregnant i think i lost 25 pds with the band. anyways, i have lost 60 pds since i went in for my fill. (i've had two fills since Evan's been born) now, i weigh less than i before i had my first child. Actually, i havent been this small in about 10 years. (im 5'4 started out at 221 and am now 161) i still have a way to go. i know that i do NOT need another fill, i think i might actually be too tight, but i don't want to take any out.

i don't know if this has helped you (i type kinda spastic!) but i just wanted to tell you to hang in there. get another fill if you don't think your at the right spot and start working out again! you'll get there! good luck!! if i can give you any more info or help just let me know!!:)

:thumbs_up:Thanks so much to both of you, yes i just need to jump back into it and stop making excuses (cause that's what they are) it's just that i don't live alone like i did when i first initially got the band so it made it easier to cook for only me now i have a family, my boyfriend and our baby.... but i can't get to my right filling spot, I hate throwing up:ohmy: but people are still telling me i'm losing weight i don't know how but i can kinda tell in my clothes, i think i'm losing inches if anything nothing else. However I do need to start exercising again, i don't at all but working a full time job and a baby full time where do i find the time:confused:.... Again thanks for the advice and it really does help to come on here and know i'm not the only one going through this... i went by the book when i first had my band cause like i said it was my first surgery but when i got unfil during my pregnancy that all went out the window..... lcain25 Thanks so much and Congrats on the baby and your weight lost, and becca77 hang in there i'm pulling for you and wish u luck like me !

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
