Hello everyone

I had the lapband done in April and I keep reading that some people are eatting certain amount of calaries a day. Like 1400 to 1600 or etc...Anyway, My question is, Are we suppose to eat so many calaries in a day for use to have the weight lost?? My Dr never told me anything like that. Any help would be great..Thanks!!

I only eat until I am full like my Dr told me to..Is that why I am having a slow weight loss right now. I don't have my first fill which it will be wenesday. I can't wait...Thanks for any help any body can give me..

Thanks

Kristy

Please contact your nutritionist, every Dr has there own specifications.

I couldn't eat soft food till post op day 29 thru day 42,

Regular food started on day 43 thru day 64, but not to exceed 4-6 oz per meal.

Our calories went by the week, 400 cal by week 4, 500 cal by wk 5- thats per day, ect... !

Calories not to exceed 1000 - 1200 for life. Good luck & please contact your NUT.

I never counted calories specifically, but after a lifetime of dieting, its impossible for me NOT to add calories in my head. I dont weigh, measure and use a little book to add it up, but I know roughly (and if nobody sees you eat it, you dont count the calories, right?)

Overall, this is probably a healthy tool for weight management,I mean I do use it to say "no, I really shouldnt have that, cant afford the calories because I've already had x, y and z". But being pedantic down to the gram and single calorie doesnt interest me, and I was never told to do it by my doc.

Thanks for everyone help. I don't count the cal. or fat grams or anything cause I did that while I was dieting before and When I stopped writing them down or counting, that's when I got off my diet all together..So Now I just eat until I am full. But I eat my protiens first. My nutritionist told me to fill up on protiens, then If I have enough room to eat vegs, then fruit, then carbs..So far I lost 30 lbs by that way, so I guess I can keep doing what I am doing..

I just hear everyone doing that about the calaries and I thought I had to do that.....Thanks again everyone!!

kristylyn,

When you I see the words, "everyone" on here I just cringe a little. There's one thing I've learned and that there's not one thing that "everyone" does the same!

When my losses are slower than I want them to be I track my calories on fitday.com or sparkpeople. It makes me more aware of my portion sizes and what I put into my mouth. Like, golly do I really want to eat that piece of brownie if I have to put it in my journal.

Then there are other times I just eat what I like, though not too much of it......

Good luck on your journey.

J

Oh I don't eat alot..I eat only a 1/2 cup of food at each meal. That's all I can eat. I bought me a kiddy plate and thats my plate that I eat on. I am a chocolate eatter, but I barly eat that anymore. That's my one time a week treat for me. Usually it's on sundays at our get togethers..I just like to hear how people are looseing there weight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
