HI Greythope,

Yes, I would love the info on the Methodist group!! When are you getting banded and where?

June 13th at Methodist with Dr. Davis (Garth). I will find the info. I haven't gone yet but they said it's part of being successful so I am taking all their advice to try to make this work. I can't wait to get it over with and get on with my life!

Hi Everyone! I am from NJ and will become a member of the band on June 24th - Dr. Nussbaum. I am married to a great guy (20 years in Oct.) and have 2 wonderful children - a son and a daughter. Although I have been a music teacher for 30 years I can't wait to join this NEW band! I have struggled my entire life with weight and am looking forward to this new beginning. I look forward to sharing experiences with my fellow June band members! Best wishes!

Where to begin?????? My name is Kerry, I am 54 yrs. old, I live in Maupin, Oregon on The Deschutes River. I have been a classified employee for our school district for over 20 years, doing numerous jobs from running our title 1 program and writing the grants for it, teachers aid, playground atendent to present as head cook for aprox. 200 students and staff a day, Breakfast and lunch. (thus just another contributer to a life long weight problem)! I will retire on December 1, 2008 with an early out with PERS. I have lived in the same community of 500 since birth, am married to a wonderful husband of 31 years in July. (anniv. 7/7/77). For the past 20 years we have owned a "vehicle shuttle business", named Deschutes River Shuttles. We transport vehicles only and employee 6 people besides DH and myself. I was a 10lb. baby and have just kept going!I have became a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and made goal 3 times in my life. I re-joined in January of this year and have struggled to get 20 lbs. off! Guss they mean it when they say "the older you get, the harder it is to loose"! Which brings me to this journey. I have researched everything, I am a self pay, will be banded on June 17th by Dr. Pedro Kury in TJ Mexico, and feel very confident with my choice of Dr. and this HUGE decision. I know I will do well as I have such wonderful support from all of you! This is a terrific time for all of us. I will start my LSD on June 3 along with Apples 2!

Good Luck All, and keep us all posted so we know what to expect. Kerry

p.s. Almost forgot 3 grown step-children and 2 cats. :P

Hello Everyone!!!!! I'm Tonia and I'm from San Francisco. I am a Longshoreman. I come from a long line of Longshoreman but all of them were men. For those of you that don't know what a longshoreman is, we load and unload cargo ships that come to the port of Oakland. I mostly drive 14 wheeler tractors. I'm a single parent of a wonderful 14 about to turn 15 this month, baby boy.

I have struggled with my weight for years. It has definately put a hamper on my outgoing and bubbly personality. And it really makes my son sad when i tell him I can't go on a ride at an amusement park cause they don't make rides for BIG GIRLS, cause if I say fat he is highly offended. I just want to enjoy my life like I used to before I used food as my national pass time. My surgery date is June 5 and I'm nervous, but happy. It hasn't really materialized as reality until this week. Congradulations to all of the Lap Banders with their new Birthdays this month.

Thank you. Are you nervous?

Yes a little bit I guess, as here it is midnight and I'm on the computer instead of sleeping!! I'm a bunch of things, nervous, anxious, excited, scared, you name it. How about you?

Well the funny thing is, reality didn't really hit until like yesterday. I was on a mad dash to try to find some good books on lap band and the only one I could find was weight loss for dummies. I feel like I'm not prepared.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
