Hi,

I was banded on May 12th. and today is my first day off work. I'm feeling okay a wee bit of pain, but other than that I feel great. Only 2-3 of my co-workers knows about it.

Some people could go back within 2-3 days after the surgery. Kudos to them. I'm glad I took a week off though.

I took a week off. I was band on a Tuesay of one week and went back to work the Tuesday of the following week. I had a great recovery. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred. Everything went well.

I wish you much success.

I took a week off but could have returned sooner if my doc had allowed me to drive. He insists no driving for a week to 10 days. Saw him today for my first post op visit and am doing great. (banded 5-7). Loss of 8 pounds YIPPEE

I took a week off. There's one women in my support group who went back to work the next day (she said she didn't have a choice). This surgery was pretty mild compared to some of the other surgeries I've had. I'm 3 months out now and loving it!

I was banded on a Wednesday and was fine to return to work the following Monday ( I didn't because I had vacation time to use or lose). I have had a wonderful experience and it just keeps getting better with each pound and inch I lose - I hope you're as lucky. One thing that I can suggest is to follow the rules/advice your doctor and nutritionist give you.

Good luck!

WOW...I guess I am a big baby. I am a kindergarten teacher and I had slews of sick time so I originally asked for two weeks off, but was still feeling tired last week and still sleeping a lot so took three more days this week. The nurse at my school told me to take the rest of the week and even next week if I need it. don't intend to..I feel great right now just tired...also my little ones like to run up and throw themselves around you so I was a teensy bit worried about the port til it was fully healed.

My surgery was May 13th and today (May 19th) is my first day back to work. I'm feeling good, although I will probably go home at lunchtime as my incisions are rubbing against the desk and that is causing some pain.

I have high BP and diabetes and my meds are getting adjusted so I'm not going to play around with dizziness, fatigue, etc. When my body feels like resting, I'm going to let it.

But I found a week enough time to recover. I'm thrilled with my choice for lapband. I've lost 11 lbs since surgery. I can see the weight loss in my face, hands, legs, stomach. It's amazing. My husband can't get over it. I'm so excited for this journey.

Way to go. Sounds like you are doing great. I am not banded yet and have to wait until March next year. This was an inspiration to me. Keep us informed of your progress

I had surgery on Thursday, the 15th and I'm taking all this week off. If I really had to I could have been back at work today but since I have the time off coming to me, I took it. I have a habit of rushing things, and I just decided I was going to take my time with this. I'm glad I did.... I went outside this morning to clean up my deck and pull some weeds, and it wore me out.

I had my surgery on a Friday and returned back to work the following Monday. I felt fine, however I was just a wee bit sore, not much.

I had six days off. I work from home, so it was not difficult. However, if I worked in an office setting, I think I would have liked to have a few more days off.

My surgery was on 4/30 and I'm just now feeling like I'm nearing 100% in terms of energy.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
