Newly Banded May 13th

Hi, I'm Diane and am happy to say I was just banded on May 13th. Dr. Guske with the Kane WLS did the proceedure at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, IL. The last I remembered I was in PreOpt and the clock was at 2:45pm, I awoke in post opt 3:30pm. I was banded in about a half hour. It took forever to get there, but once your there it went fast. I was up and walking within a half hour. The ice chips were great for the dry mouth. It's been 4 days, and I feel pretty good. My stomach is swollen. I have 5 small incessions and only one of them is sore and red around it. Is this anything to worry about? How long do you stay swollen and red? I am still feeling full eating a popcycle or a Jello, It's Great. I had gained weight the week before surgery, Mother's day brunch didn't help. So as of today I am still up 2 pounds from the week before surgery.

I started out my journey at 231 lbs with my first Dr. visit. I weighed 223 lbs. the day of surgery. This morning I am 215 lbs. yeah, and this is just the beginning.

:lol:Hi Larenshine

What does your pre op diet consist of and why does your doctor want to put you on one. I just saw my doctor and he said I didn't need to just the 24 hours fasting .

thanks,

Hi Alicia,

I think it's fairly common in order to shrink the fat around the liver. I have to have 3 protein drinks a day, and then one healthy meal. Since my BMI isn't too high, I don't have to do it for quite as long. I'm SO ready for surgery day to get here. How bout you?:(

  • 1 month later...

Nothing to worry about on the redness. Mine was too for a few days. My doctor (Dr Jay, Dallas,Texas) said to put neosporin on it to get the redness out incase of infection. Might want to check with your doctor. You are starting at where I was on April 24th, 2008. I am now weighing 185 in less than 3 months. Not bad. I had a problem after my 2nd fill and had to get some taken out. Couldn't eat anything. Doing better now. Good luck.
