Roller Coasters and the Lapband

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of getting the lapband i am still in the pre of it all. But I keep forgetting to ask anyone of this, but I was wondering, if getting the lapband will prevent you from riding roller coasters? :confused2:

You probably want to ask your doc how long you have to wait after surgery for riding roller coasters. After that period of time, you should be good to go

Congrats on the decision to get banded.. I got mine done in March of 07 and for the first time in about 12 years when my kids and I went to Orlando I was able to ride every ride adn not in the big seat section. I had no difficulty at all. It was about 4 months before i went but like I said I rode the fast ones, upside down ones and no problems so have fun...

The band shouldn't prevent you from doing anything you would want to do. It doesn't hinder any kind of physical exercise, running/jogging, aerobics, flying, swimming, etc. I should think it would make it easier to fit in to the rollercoaster seat. The last time I rode one I was heavier than I am now and it was really uncomfortable.

Good luck with your process. I love my band!

I have to say this, I can only wish to ride roller coasters, 4 years ago I couldnt get on anything, cause of my weight. Mostly my boobs, I could fit in the seat, but I couldnt lock the belt. Its really embarrasing. I am being banded June 9th. I cant wait for this. Im so scared of the whole thing though. I have a 2 year old that I want to spend lots of time in the future doing all kinds of things, including amusement parks. I had to digress a bit. Im sorry. This thread just reminded me of the horrible times I had at amusement parks.

Absolutly not. I have been on many roller coasters since my lap band and it was fine. I was nervous in line, but I decided to go anyway... it's nothing. It's eating the wrong way that slipps the band, not a roller coaster.

I was banded on Feb 5th and I live 15 minutes away from Busch Gardens in tampa and go evey couple weeks and ride all the big coasters. I was concerend if the bar across my chest would hit the port, but I have had no issues what so ever.. So Enjoy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
