It took months to compile all of my support information on my application and have consultations with the clinic. But only after a week of receiving my info, BCBS of Arizona has accepted coverage for my Lap Band surgery! I am still in a bit of shock but am overjoyed! Now, I just need to set a date with my surgeon. WOOWOWW!!!

That's awesome!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Keep us posted.

I'm going May 5th for my first consult, and I'm really nervous. We'll see what happens. I really need my insurance to cover me because there is no way that I can pay for this surgery on my own or else I'd probably have to go to Mexico.....arrrrribbbaa!!! lol

Gotta love BCBS! Congrats of getting banded and already losing so many lbs.! So? How are you feeling? What doc did you go to? I'm going through Dr. Blackstone at Scottsdale Bariatric.

The first couple of days are hell!!! I didn't expect to be in so much pain. I kept asking myself what did I do?????? but it get's better each day. I'm in Tucson and went with Dr. Schwartz. I lost 10 lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet, it really gets you ready for what's ahead. Just remember try to drink and walk, it helps with the pain. When are you getting banded????

yikes! I hope that I can deal with the pain. I just have to tell myself, each day it'll get better! I think that it's normal for people to sometimes have "buyer's remorse" afterwards...I am nervous about feeling that way too! But, then I tell myself how much better my overall life will be with the band. Thanks for the advice to drink and walk lots. I have read that quite a bit on the forums. I don't have a date yet for surgery. I will get it scheduled sometime next week! I know that Scottsdale Bariatric is very busy, so I anticipate having to wait a month and a half or so for my surgery. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get in sooner! Continued good health and keep in touch to let me know how you're progressing!:frown:

Hi! Greetings from Ft. Huachuca! I have my first consult next week with Dr. Schwartz. I haven't gotten approved as of yet (Tricare Prime) but will be meeting with him. How was your overall experience? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! :cursing:

I didn't think the pain was bad at all, the worst part is the bloated tummy, I walked and took gas x thin strips, that really helped. The first two weeks were a piece of cake for me, I am struggling with hunger now. Good luck :cursing:

I do have this fear about going under. I've never have had any kind of surgery. Any advice on how to calm my worries?

I had my surgery last week..

It was set up for me by beliteweight.

They got me approved, scheduled my surgery, did all the leg work..

It all went very smooth.

I went to University of michigan.

I am feeling a lot of what others are.

Hungry, not restricted.etc.

I have never experienced the first pain.

I am a little sore.

I started oatmeal, creamed Soups yesterday.

I started boost 3 days out..

They never put me on a pre op diet.

It is wonderful to be able to get on here for help and support..

I thank everyone..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
