Recommended Posts

Don't be scared!!! I had my first fill about a month ago! No biggie!!! The nurse numbed the skin first so I really didn't feel a thing. I got 4cc and this is doing me good so far.

Had my first fill today. Went fine. Piece 'o cake.... (probably a bad choice of words considering I now want a piece o cake  ). No numbing required. Doc said the numbing hurt worse than just doing it and made it harder for him to find the port due to the swelling from the lidocane. It was a big 'ole nasty looking needle but I had to ask if he already had it in because I truly didnt feel a thing.

No worries folks...

Uh oh. I go for my first fill on Thursday @ NWWLS (I was banded by Dr. Michaelson)

I was thinking it was going to be a breeze, and I've been looking forward to it, since I've admittedly put a bit of weight back on since surgery (on 4/17).

Now I'm worried...

The short of my first fill was, audrey couldnt find my port. She poked me with a needle 9 times, pressing on it, and found out I also have a lot of scar tissue. So into the xray I go to get the fill. She couldnt get it in with the xray either, so she called the head nurse Jessie in, (whos amazing!) and she poked me 10 times and dug around and felt like she was jumping up and down on the same spot 23445 times. At this point I started to freak out a ltitle, and DR montgomery had to come in and get the big ass needle, he numbed me up witht he lidocaine (bless him!!!!!) and in 10 seconds he was done. Apparently my port is deep, (I carry a lot of weight in my front apparantly) and Ihave a lot of scar tissue. And you have to get the needle directly into the center of the port at an angle and the nurses like couldnt get it. So Dr M is doing my fills now. He did my second one weds the 14th and it went smooth sailing. Handsome surgeon. Heh.

/swoon

Ive def got restriction now Im at 6cc in my 10cc band.

Yeah I did actualy. I was really bruised over my port site, and I have a panic disorder so I kind of leaked tears through the whole thing, and then when I made it out to my car I lost it. I did go back to work through.

Oh, wow. No wonder you were so upset. That sounds AWFUL. I'm sorry it was such a traumatic experience, and I really hope things go more smoothly from now on. I was banded by Dr. Michaelson, but I've seen Dr. Montgomery walking around the building.

Audrey actually did my fill on Thursday, and the entire appointment was maybe 15-20 minutes long with the fill itself taking less than 5 minutes. I thought she was great, really informative, and easy to talk to. I have an appointment with Deanna and then two more with Audrey, in the coming weeks (thought it was interesting that they scheduled three of them so closely together, rather than waiting to see if I'd need another fill, but I appreciate that they want you to be on top of finding that "sweet spot" as quickly as possible)

Best of luck to you!

^ They did that to me too, with the scheduling. They made 3 apts 3 weeks out in a row- I cancelled my one for this thurs but am keeping the one on the 29th. I PB'd yesterday on a veggie omlette I didnt chew well enough again.... I think my restriction is pretty close to my sweet spot. I like Audrey shes really nice, but Im glad that Dr Montgomery is doing my fills for the time being because I have a puppy crush on him lolol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
