I am 6 days post op... You would have to kill me to pry my band away from me lol. Check out my ticker all those pounds gone and I haven't felt hungry 1 time. I would do it again without a second thought.

Yes, I'd do it again w/no hesitation. Just remember that you need to work with the band that its not an automatic fix. I'm 2 1/2 months out and have had very little restriction. Must pay good attention to what I eat. Reminds me that my weight loss is still up to me and that the band is there only for support. Hopefully I'll have more restriction within the next couple of months (a fill a month). Yes, I'd do it again!

Yes, I'd do it again. Though getting those fills becomes like a crack addiction... Everytime I go in I'm like, "i need more fill.. come on man.. I need more".. But, I haven't had any discomfort.. no pb'ing... no sliming... it's been great. When I have restriction its even better, but I'm only like 2 months out. I know it will get better in time. The only thing I don't like is the scarring on my belly. Now, I've seen friends a year out and you can barely tell, but mine are still red and I hate looking at them. But, it's a small price to pay for how I feel right now. Even with the weight I've lost already I feel 100% better. Good luck.

I would do it again. Nothing else worked and I know that when I leave a weight behind this time, it is gone for good because I have a tool that will allow me to keep it gone. I have had some bumps, but compared to living with diabetes, overworked joints and constantly catching your breath, I would take my little bit of uncomfortable situations anyday.

I would do it again in a flash!!! The lap band has been the best tool for me - I was banded Dec 2007 and now am down 53 lbs.

I would do it again in a heartbeat! It's the best thing I've ever done for myself and my family. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Just keep in mind that it's a tool. You still have to do the work. Good luck!

Absolutely! I now have phrases in my vocabulary like:

"No thanks, that's not a good choice for me"

"I can't do bread"

"I'm good, I've had my four bites - would you like the rest of my steak?"

"I'll just order Soup and pick off your plate!"

Cost of lap band? Several grand.

Cost of phrases like these? PRICELESS!!!

Hugs!

Donna

Hi Shelly,

I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! I am 8 weeks out and just love my band! Immed after my surgery, I had regrets due to post-op pain and problems with the morphine(sp?) but now am so thankful that my insurance approved the surgery and everything went so well. It is such a great tool. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
