I Want My Band Out NOW

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I got the band in last August and have had two fills. I keep on throwing up. I've stopped eating almost everything and even throw up sometimes with cottage cheese. The doctor just told me that I need to stop eating so fast. I have family and friends who will tell you that I am on my second bite when their almost done with their food. I am starting to get depressed ( you would to if every time you ate, you felt like someone was stabbing you in the chest.) A lot of the time I just eat things that I know will go down without me throwing it back up. One time I ate ice cream for dinner because I knew that I wouldn't throw it back up.

My question is: Is there anyone out there having the same problems as me? and if so, how did you handle it or get your doctor to take out the band? Please respond I'm starting to really really hate life.

Thanks,

Amber

You've not mentioned whether or not you've had unfills. Sounds like maybe you need to be have even slight unfill if that's not been tried yet? Have you not gone for an upper GI to make sure everything is OK? If not, I'd definitely request one before undergoing more surgery. It's a non-invasive test for the most part. Hell, the stuff you drink isn't even that disgusting. Better than throwing up.

big hugs to you

Amber, maybe you need to be unfilled some. It sounds like you are too tight. Was it always like this or just since your fills??? It doesn't sound like you are eating too fast or doing anything wrong. It just seems like your too restricted or worst case would be your band slipped. How long have you had your band? Did you get it in the US or Mexico?

Wow! Are you malnourished? Have you lost too much weight? What kinds of tests are you having done since you are unable to eat?

I've had it since August. Me getting sick started when I got fills. I thought that it was because I was eating too fast at first that's why I got the second one. The band did not slip. At least that's what the doctor says and I got it in the United States.

Why won't your doctor unfill you? What is his/her reasoning for keeping you filled?

He said that we didn't want to undo the entire thing because then I wouldn't loose weight at all. He started to unfill me a little bit at a time.

Amber, then I think you need to either find another surgeon or demand that you get better care from your current one.

I'm not sure how anybody could be be purportedly as sick as you've written and be denied an unfill and diagnostic testing. That's outright malpractice. Is there anything you're leaving out?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
