I need help--moving 3 days after surgery--need follow-up doc in Colorado!

Recommended Posts

With waiting for insurance approval and everything else, I didn't get a surgery date until THREE days before we move across the country. My surgeon knows this and knew it was the plan all along.

Now that it's getting so close, I'm wondering who to follow up with in two weeks. I'll be moving to the Colorado Springs area but can travel south to Pueblo or north to Denver.

Anyone have someone good they can recommend?

My surgeon was Dr. Michael A. Snyder in Denver @ the Denver Bariatrics, I would recommend him in a hearbeat! You can check out his website @

www.denverbariatrics.com good luck to you, hope you find someone you like.

My fill Dr. works out of both Pueblo, and Canon City. He is open to patients banded by other Dr.'s---I am one!

His name is Dr. Timothy Brown with Colorado Bariatrics. His phone # is 1-866-BAND or 719-275-4061. Website is www.coloradobariatrics.net .

You can call and talk to Reenie, or Andrea, they are both very well band educated, and super helpful!!!

Let me know if you need anything else in relation to them!

Good Luck with your surgery and your upcoming move!!

Kat

Everyone seems totaly positive about Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Colorado. He does seem like a good guy. Best thing is to go to the doctor/hospital thread and read what people have to say about the different Colorado docs. :cursing:

Hi, Colorado Springs Surgical Associates all do bariatrics. My doc is Dr. Fedorak, and he is wonderful! The are in Colorado Springs at Penrose Hospital on Cascade Ave. downtown. Penrose Hospital is a Center for Excellence in Bariatrics. Good luck!

Is Dr. Fedorak doing Bands?

Are there several at Penrose who do bands now?

My insurance would only cover Penrose last year and only one physician and he didn't do banding. So I paid cash and went with Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora.

My insurance now covers banding as of July and they said the one doctor whom they cover is just starting to do the Lap Band.

I have friends at work who want to have the Band, but I wasn't sure who the surgeon was.

Just rambling here!

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately my insurance requires another referral, and my doctor put in a referral for the *wrong* doctor.

So now I have to wait until next week and get another referral put in which will probably take another week or two. Grrrrr.

Flyway...I used to work at Penrose! I worked there for 7 years and I know most of the docs over there. I didn't know they were doing bands, though.

Hi! Yes, I think they all do banding now, and I think just in the last year. There are several docs in the practice- I think Fisher does the most bands. But Fedorak was awesome. Penrose has that whole specialized unit for bariatrics. I actually had mine done at Printers Park surgical center since that's all my insurance would approve, but had a great experience. Your friends are welcome to post questions to me if they have any :D

Was Fedorak band-friendly? Did he try to push bypass? I'm not sure if I want to go with Fedorak or Fisher.

I'm so tired of docs trying to push bypass on me!!

Hi, I went to Denver Bariatrics and it's located in pretty central Denver. My surgeon Dr Snyder is very nice, and his fill nurse is very good! I think his fills are $100 without insurance, but they have been so kind to bill mine as an office visit so I just pay my copay which is $15 and they even have let me bill that so I can just pay it later. :tt2:

And, welcome to Denver! I hope this city brings you lots of joy! :tt2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
