What the heck is going on???

Recommended Posts

Ok after several months of being too tight, my band has finally loosened up enough to where I can eat a good balanced meal. But now, I am having acid reflux issues. It only happened on occasion when I was extremely tight, but why now? What is going on? I have scheduled an appointment for a slight unfill after being so fed up with being too tight. Now I just have discovered I can eat good again and all the sudden bam acid reflux. I think I am going to keep my app for the slight unfill because I think with all the reflux and throwing up acid I need to let my stomach rest, but uuugggghhhh....I just don't understand it!

I am eating the same times really every day and the acid reflux is....well all day long it just gets bad at night because I am laying down and it is running up. I haven't really changed what I am eating I can just eat it with little to no stuck or pb. The only thing I have really changed is I started drinking iced tea again. Can iced tea really cause it. I am smoking, but I have been smoking for about 6months now. Well, I have an app for saturday for an unfill and I am going to follow thru with it even though I fear it. I think my stomach and esophogus need the break. I am also cutting out the tea and going to get back on welburtrin to stop smoking. I do notice that it really flares when I take my meds. I have no problem swallowing pills, they are the only thing that doesn't get stuck and I don't even have to break them up. I think possibley what is going on is all the meds I take are sitting in my little pouch and disolving and in term irritating my little stomach and causing the reflux....who knows there are just so many veriables. I'll deff talk with the doc and report on her theory when I know something.

Could be the meds.

Could also be that you are eating too much ("packing the pouch") and have distended your esophagus a bit which could bring that on.

As the very wise Jack said, consult with your surgeon right away!

I would go to the doctor ASAP. I had the EXACT same symptoms and sure enough....... I had stretched my pouch. This can be a pre cursor to a slip so get in and see your doctor as soon as you can. It may NOT be what I had but it's better to be safe than sorry! Mine was fixed by a week of being on a liquid diet and then mushys again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
