Anyone else had an abnormal EKG ??? Mine is abnormal and my MD is sending me to a cardiologist . I am a little worried but, have been told that it is normal for many overweight persons to have a bad EKG test. Anyone else have to go through this?? My bariatric nurse says even if I had to have angioplasty or a stent put in I could still have my band surgery ! I am just scared .

I am being banded 4/23/08 my EKG also came out abnormal. I was sent to a cardiologist who made me do a stress test and an Echocardiogram ......i passed the stress test and the echo seems to have been ok so surgery is a go. Its just precautionary i am sure you will be fine!!

Yes. Mine showed myocardial ischemia, so I had a stress test, which ruled it out. However, I'm pretty sure that if the stress test verified the results of the EKG, I still could have had the surgery. It was just something that needed confirmation either way.

Thanks for the info guys !! My cardiologist appointment is scheduled for Monday !! I am praying that all goes well but, I am trying to keep it real and I know in the back of my mind that sometimes things don't ALWAYS go as planned:frown:.

My EKG was also abnormal. I was scheduled for a stress test and it was normal, so my surgery progressed without any problems.

I had an abnormal EKG too... try not to worry. I totally freaked out and got so upset which helped nothing. Anyways, I went to the cardiologist who did a repeat EKG and it was normal. You surgeon just needs to be sure it is safe to put you under anesthesia. Good luck!

I had an abnormal EKG, which sent me to have athallium stress test and echo, also abnormal, which led me to a cardiologist, which led me to a heart cath, which "surprisingly" as the Dr put it, was normal, but I finally got the cardiac clearance, to the tune of 1100 extra bucks, but was approved after only one week thru Aetna.

I did two EKGs that were 'abnormal' and was sent to a cardiologist to do an echocardiogram.

You know how on heart monitors, you see a little flat line that bumps when your heart beats? Well apparently, the line is supposed to go up and then down, but mine goes down just a tiny tiny tiny bit first, then up, then down again. "Inferior Q waves", it's called. Anyway, it turned out to be no big deal, a "not-uncommon abnormality" or some such. So onto surgery on Monday...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
