How long before the strips on the incisions fall off?

Recommended Posts

Lapbanded 3/21/08 and still have the five strips covering the incisions. I know not to pull them off, but how long before they fall off? My shirts are rubbing against them and at times they 'catch' which is a not so nice feeling.

I was banded 3/31. In my doctor's orders after the surgery, it said that the strips would fall off in 5-7 days. Mine haven't fallen off yet. I see my doctor on Wednesday and if they haven't fallen off by then, I'll let the doctor take them off.

My strips were only stuck in the middle, each side was coming up. So, about day 6, after a shower, I took them off. My incisions were practically healed by then.

I was banded 3/25/08 and the strips stayed on for over a week. They were half on and half off, so I took off the top ones at first, then a day or two later gently took off the ones over the incisions. I was going crazy with an itchy rash (reaction to the tape) and my skin felt so much better. Everything looked healed, so I soap it good in the shower, and a couple times put anti-itch cream or lotion on the rash but not over the incision. That and an occasional anti-allergy pill (Chlortrimeton) that is used for itchiness. It is getting much better. That is the only big problem I have had.

so funny, because i just reread my discharge instructions to see if they said anything about the steri-strips, and they didn't. i am occasionally a bit OCD, and today I picked at my strips all day long, until I finally pulled them all off tonight. I started with the little ones, and when they seemed to be healed up tight, i said what the hell and pulled the big one off. I'm glad to know that others had their strips fall off in the same time frame as I pulled mine. I haven't taken many showers, so maybe that's the difference.

If the loose edges are bothering you (like they definitely were me), just trim them off with scissors.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
