Hello from South Carolina

Hello, I am new to the site and wanted to say hi. I have not been banded, but I am working hard to get it done in the next three months. I enjoy reading comments from others that had the procedure. I look forward to posting good news in the weeks to come.

Hi Marsha!

You will definitely find all the information you need here on LBT. Good luck with your surgery and let us know if you have any questions!

Hiya!! Welcome to the board!:) I am also waiting to get banded. I'm currently going through the required 6-month nutrition classes...:lol: Are you going to be private pay or is your insurance paying? Do you have to go through diet classes? Hopefully not and you'll get right in. :thumbup: Keep us informed of your progress.

Well it finally happened I was banded on friday..Today is Sunday and I am extremely sore and I really can't eat too much yet....

Congratulations!! You should be on liquids for a couple of weeks, so go slow with the food. Your body needs time to heal before you can handle anything solid. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

EB, I was also banded by Dr. Anotnetti. Luv that grp! Had my 1st fill of 2cc's in a 10cc band by James, the PA. Went really good but waiting longer than expected. That grp seems to be very busy! I go for 2nd fill on Aug 12th.

Hello, it’s finished...and I am home from the hospital. (07/16/08) Things went very well. I did have to get one larger incision, that is not typical, but it's not too bad. (You can look at my post surgery photo I posted if you care to look at my incisions. I am very sore from the air used to extend your stomach during surgery. The only way that I can explain the pain is that it feels like I have done a couple hundred sit ups. I will post again next week after my post-op visit. Good luck to everyone. If you are waiting for the surgery..It’s worth the wait...I will continue to keep you all in my prayers, please do the same for me. God bless all my "bandster" buddies..

:blush: Next Wednesday, the 23rd is my pre-op appointment with Dr. Tribble in Columbia. I believe I have jumped all of the hoops and will now set a surgery date. Does anyone know if Dr. Tribble has a person do a liquid diet prior to surgery? And if so, what kind and how long? Thanks :eek:

I answered this question on the other thread, but will post here too. Dr. Tribble does not require an all liquid pre-op diet. He only requires a 2 week Atkins diet.

Dear Lapband Friends in SC, here is my first update post surgery. Things are going very well. I had some swelling that caused a little problem swallowing, but that went down on Sunday, and things are getting better daily. I went to the doctor today to have my stitches removed, and for my post op class. The doctor was very happy with everything. I have lost 16lbs in 13 days, of course most of that is from being on liquids for the past two weeks, but it will come off quickly this month, and I want to take advantage of these few weeks of rapid loss. I start working out at the Cardio Rehab Center at the hospital next week. Cuurently I am walking about 20 minutes a day, on my street, and that makes me feel much better. Prior to the surgery, I didn't care about doing anything, but eat and take a shower. I guess the most difficult thing for me for so far, is giving up the soft drinks. Before the surgery I would consume about 8 cans of Pepsi a day, and never water, now that has reversed. I have more energy, and just wake up each day, with a new look on life. I no longer think about how I can kill time, to make the day pass, I wake up and look forward to walking, making my little drinks, and finding ways to use this new energy, in a good way. No longer is this a wish, or a dream…it’s reality and I am transforming to a better me each new day. I wish each of you the best, and I will keep you in my prayers. Please do the same for me.

With warm regards;

I am yours,

Randall Price

Randall I can't tell you how happy your post made me. What a great attitude you have and I'm SO happy for you!! Please keep us posted on your progress, it's very encouraging for those of us who are still waiting to be approved for surgery. :)
