Exercise and tightness of the band

Recommended Posts

We read of many folks who experience a greater "tightness" in their band early in the day and who feel more relaxed later in the day. I've been banded about 2 months and only recently returned to tennis. (I played before banding, also, but not vigorously, as you can imagine.)

I'm curious about how exercise affects your feeling of tightness of your bands. My question is, have any of you noticed feeling more or less tight following gentle, moderate, and vigorous exercise?

Also, I'm curious about any other differences you noticed between your endurance before and after banding, ability to keep hydrated, and so forth. I'd appreciate any insights you might have.

I am one of those lucky people who are pretty tight in the morning but my evening I have loosened up a bit.

I have found when I exercise I seem to almost forget about my band and want to chug Water and of course that's a no no, but as long as I use my brain and drink slow enough not to burst my poor band than I can stay hydrated quite well.

In my opinion, and take this for what it's worth, I do feel as if I'm tighter when i exercise. I don't know if it's because your huffing and puffing and it puts a strain of some sort on the band, but I do feel as if I'm tighter. It isn't a permanent thing, it's only for maybe an hour, then the band is back to normal...

Hope this helps in some way...

I was going to pose the very same question. I will not have my first fill until 4/17, was banded 3/5. I have recently started back to the gym and do my share of strength training and cardio. I have always been a jogger, even at my fattest. when i get home from the health center in the evening and try to eat, look out, restriction city!! I can't eat but maybe, maybe 1 oz of ground beef and 1 oz of vegetable. I then either 1. wait until I can eat, or 2. have a yogurt. typically i take #2 because I feel a few less calories aren't going to kill me before my fill. I believe it is due to my circulation being up from the cardio and my cellular chemistry working to fuel the increased activity.........anyone wanna chime in here??? g2s

Thanks everyone for responding. I've noticed that i seem very hungry during exercise (but i think it's mostly because i tend to exercise at the end of my workday before supper) and then when it's time to eat, i'm just not very hungry anymore. It seems contrary.

But the number one thing is that every day it's easier to move and i want to keep moving longer-so thanks to y'all for your support and know that you have my best wishes also. It matters.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
