Tricare approval once referral is in place?

:confused:Is it easy to get approved for surgery by Tricare once you have your Pcm's referral in process??? I am 220 lbs 5'5 and I will be meeting with my surgeon at the MTF for a full exam at the end of the month. I'm just crossing my fingers and really hoping Tricare will approve me for surgery...I have never been this anxious or nervous about anything in my life...Well if anyone can help or has gotten smooth approval please share your expeirence...Thanks!

Tori2003 ~ I am pretty much in the same situation, and was wondering if you got approved through Tricare? I am 5'5" and weigh about 228lbs. Do you have other co-morbidities that would help you get approved? I too am soo anxious and nervous, and wondering if I will get the approval, I want it so badly!!

Thanks for any info!

Hi everyone. Things have gone really fast for me once I got in to see the surgeon. I did my best to put on some more weight and when i got weighed I had a BMI of 40! I am actually shorter than I put in the online calculator so that worked in my favor!

I have done my psych eval which took 2 hours for seeing the dr and doing the tests and I have done my sleep study which my surgeon ordered just in case I do have sleep apnea that will be more in my favor. I got my records sent over from the MTF and all I need now is to see the nutrionist. I am waiting for her to come back from vacation ~ darn her! lol

They put everyone on Atkins for 2 weeks pre-op diet so I am thinking about starting that now that way I can get right in for surgery if I get approved. Here's to hope! Other ladies using my surgeon that have Tricare have been approved within a couple of days. And my lapband advocate that they assigned to me says that Tricare is really easy as long as you meet the BMI criteria.

Luck to all of us! Hooah! :wink2:

Count me out on the waiting game, I found out that Tricare approved my surgery today!!!!! Best wishes to the rest of you!!!!

Hi, I am 5'5 and 223lb, so my BMI is under 40, but with some cheating on blood test I got my sugar level high and also have high cholesterol, so I'm hopping to get my surgery approved, but I am extremly worrid I will be denied, since I am not 100lb over. I already had my PCM letter, nutricionist consultation, psyh evaluation, sleep sutdy done and the surgeon was going to send the request to be approved for surgery last friday. I keep checking the website and there is nothing there. I hope I can get approved.
