Hi all, i'm from montclair and i'm going for lap band surgery on april 9th. i'm going thru dr. strom at mountainside hospital. i'm soooooo nervous and excited. are there any pre-op tips that you guys can give me? i know this is probably a little too late to ask since i'm only a week away but feel free to post a checklist, last minute reminder or anything u think might be helpful. i'm currently a size 20/22 and hoping to get down to a 12 i'm not sure i'll feel comfortable being any smaller than that, more importantly i just want to feel healthy and be able to live a long life without being predisposed to so many of the health problems associated with obesity. i already have asthma and that has been enough of a hindrance in my life. okay, not going to ramble, just glad to be in a jersey forum!

Hello everyone! Today I got an April Fool's prank. Someone put bubble wrap on my tire taped on with duct tape! :huh2: At first I thought it was there by accident, but it was too perfectly put on there. When I drove out of the parking lot I thought I ran over something. Then I heard it again...and again. I pulled over and thought something was wrong with my tire. Then I found it! I deserve the prank. I played a few over the years on my teacher coworkers. :tt2:

Happy April everyone...just realized why I wasn't getting posts lol. Usually how I discover the new threads. Either I create them or end up discovering them AFTER I realize I haven't gotten an update hahaha.

Hope all is going well with you all. 10:21pm so it's time for bed...worked way too late tonight...I'm going too cross-eyed to stay up and chat. Hope to catch up soon! xoxox

Wow girls---I miss you!

Welcome to our newcomers! That sounds kind of silly coming from someone a looooooong ways from New Jersey!

A couple of years ago, when responding to a thread, I inadvertently ended up in the Jersey thread---even though I am from New Mexico---and they made me so welcome I stayed! There are actually several of us here from elsewhere....Texas, Illinois.......but there are some real Jersey girls here too!!!

Sherry--I actually made it here on the first of the month!!! Of course since it was April Fools it was enforced that it was a new month. My DD used an example of telling someone they had a spider on their foot then when they looked saying April Fools, to my 3 year old granddaughter......so over the course of the day I must have had 40 spiders on my foot!! Think she didn't really get it, but she thought it hilarious if I would jump!!!

I am so thrilled my plastic surgery was approved!!! I don't know for sure when it will be done. I have the trip to TX with the Shrinking Violets planned next month----so will try to work around this.

Mandy---how is Abi doing since surgery? Do you still have your niece with you?

Well everyone take care, will check in with you tomorrow!

Kat

Morning all,

Abi is great since surgery. She is all healed and back to running around and wearing me out. My niece is still here. She is now officially living with us. She spends most of her time working or hanging out with her boyfriend, but she is happy here.

I've been having issues with my sugar dropping really really low (in the 40's and 50's). My gp is consulting with my band doctor. I'm worried what they are going to tell me. I wake up and it's in the 110-120 range and within a few hours it's in the 50's. I had a ton of bloodwork drawn monday and the results will be back today. Say a prayer for me please. have been sooooo tired that I've worked and slept. I hope that todays results give me some relief. I just bought all the gear I need for my motocycle, helmet, leather jacket and riding gloves and now I'm too tired to ride. Go figure.

I will post and let you guys know what I findout today. ~Mandy

welcome jrzylioness!!! I remember being very nervous pre op and post op actually!!! The only thing I really did to prepare was to do a little grocery shopping to pick up some items for the post op diet. I knew I wasnt going to want to go out right after surgery so I stocked up on broths, ice pops, jelly and items like that. and I also remember buying a few pairs of loose stretchy pajama pants so that I would be comfortable and nothing would irritate my stomach. I only had to do a liquid diet the day before surgery so I am not sure how to deal with that if you have too.

good luck on your journey and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I have said this many times before but everyone here is always so helpful and caring!!!!

Good Morning Y'all!

Gosh, I came on here this week and posted and now I don't see it anywhere. That has been my week all week! If it can go wrong, it will. I just want to survive today without any problems. Say a little prayer for me! This has been the week from hell!

Welcome to the new gals, I welcomed you once properly, but since my post was lost I will try it again!

Kat how wonderful you get to have your TT!

Mandy - I sure hope things are ok with you! I'm glad Abi is doing so good! Now, we just have to get you on the road to recovery!

Pat - I know you are out playing around having fun! Send some fun my way, I could use it.

I know I missed some of you, but the clock tells me if I don't get dressed I will be late for work, and I don't need to start the day that way.

Have a great day!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
