Find a place that does it outpatient! I had mine done on an outpatient basis here in Oregon. I was in at 7:00 AM and back home (30 miles away) before noon. I was self-pay, though. My insurance didn't cover the lap (or any bariatric surgery) band at all. Good luck. SS

Yes, we have united health care also, I called to inquire and and only spoke with one person who said under our "policy" with united health care, it was not covered. I didn't even bother with anyone else, this is the first I have heard about being outpatient. I contacted a lawyer, but have had no reply. Keep us updated.

Moy what part of Ohio are u in? I have Dr. Thomas Sonnanstine of St Luke Hospital in Florence Ky. he does all his Lapband surgerys as outpatient but you don`t go home, he keeps you overnite, but it will still count as a outpatient, and his staff are really great to work with.

I hope this will help some....Good Luck. I will be banded 4/9/08
