April 2008 Exercise Challenge

I'm going to whine for a minute. OK, so I refuse to buy any new bras until I'm down a size, and since the girls have deflated, my bras don't give me the same support that they used to. Whilst walking yesterday, arms pumping, breathing hard, I must have been swinging them (the girls) ever so slightly, because last night I thought that I was a little tender underneath, not the girls, but where they rest... I have a friction rash under both of them! DAMMIT! So I dug out a better bra that's a little uncomfortable, but it gives me better support, so I can continue on with my workouts. I guess until it clears up, I'll have to wash this one every night...

Ok, I'm done whining. I'm still on track!

I absolutely love to ride my bike, but I can't go for very long. I still haven't figured out how to get my butt used to it. I've tried different seats, gel covers, pretty much everything except for tying a pillow on there. What's the secret, BG?

The smaller the seat the more comfortable it is. If the seat is smaller you have less of your bones smooshed on it.

You also just have to get a few weeks of riding in before the area down there toughens up.

Smaller.....interesting. I've actually shied away from the smaller seats, thinking exactly the opposite. I might have to try that, but I have to wait until it warms up more, I'm an even bigger wus about being cold. I won't be out there riding or doing anything that keeps me outside very long until it's 55 degrees MINIMUM!!

It's raining, raining, raining here, and currently it's only 48. After today, though, it's supposed to be 58 or warmer, if I can dodge all the rain in the forecast, I might get in some bike riding....

Awesome. You can always come and join us over on the bycyling thread lol. Good times.

I just got in an hour of walking on my lunch break. Hopefully I will get out this afternoon on a ride as well.

 I've only done 10 minutes of walking today, that rash is a killer. Not sure what I'm going to do....unless I can figure out how to lift 'em up, I may have to wait until I get home and do an hour of weight training or something. Which sucks, I gotta tell ya. I had a sports bra somewhere that used to be tight, but that was about 40 pounds ago, I don't know how much it will help now.

I'm in the same boat... My rib cage is now at 37 inches -- not a 38 any more, but not a 36 yet either! And though the girls have deflated, they haven't shrunk all the much - just sagging more now! But ya still have to scoop all that flesh up into the bra! Which means that my a size is a 38 H. An H cup. H. What the frig is THAT!!!????!!! I was banded at a 56DD. Not even nursing my babies was I an H. I have bought new day bras twice on this journey smaller, but I've not been exercising enough since the 38 days began to warrant buying a new sports bra! :bolt: The girls were slip sliding around in my satin once I really got going on the treadmill last night. There are not 2 cents to rub together at the end of the month thanks to my husband , and I just know finding a sports bra in 38H will be a pricey prospect! But it might be time to bite the bullet & get a new sports bra...

Awesome job Zannie and TG.

I got out for about 12 miles on the bike yesterday so now I am officially caught up on my workouts. Today however I am not sure where I am going to squeeze one in. But I am going to fit it in there somehow. Somehow.

How's it coming, Skinny? Thanks for spurring me on y'all... I really needed this camaraderie. I appreciate it more than y'all realize!

Going out of town for a few days -- plenty of walking in store, so I ought to hit my 3rd workout req with no problems!

Hi All ! Sorry I've been gone so long - really super busy at work right now. I am spending 3 hours dancing with my students each morning to get ready for a big spring concert. Dancing to "Grease" and "Hairspray" really give you a workout. Talk about fast !:cursing: Whew !!! Hey it looks like everyone is doing Great ! I can't wait to get out of the 200's, and to hit the 100 lbs. loss . I've decided to have a massage when I do.That's something I've never done before. Gotta go now , just popping in to say "Hey". Have a good one !

Well, here it is, Friday afternoon, and I have only gotten in 15 minutes of walking so far today (pathetic), so I have a 45 minute workout staring me in the face this evening. It's a good thing DH is going out turkey hunting after work, I can have it done and over with by the time he gets home.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
