10 days post-op with problems

Recommended Posts

New to this forum, so hi to everyone and thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Had surgery 3/3/08 and everything went really well. But in the past few days I've been having the worst stomach pains, feels like gas and bloating. Most of the time it even hurts to breath. Also, I've been running a fever, not all the time but sure can feel it when it breaks and I'm sweating all over the place. Lower abdomen hurts to touch it, and have been taking colace the past day & half. I just hope all this passes because I don't want to freak out and call the doctor since he's over a hundred miles away! Please help!!!

Hi Bexter,

Sorry to hear you are not doing well. Please call the Dr. I don't think you would be overeacting at all to call and let him know what is going on.

Let us know what happens:)

L.

Definitely call your doctor. It's probably nothing but he/she will be glad you called them - that's what you paid them for and that's exactly what they are there for!

You could have picked up an infection. Call your doctor right away! Take your temp, and if it is elevated I would think about going to an Urgent Care or ER.

So sorry to hear of your discomfort. By all means call the doctor. You could have an infection or it could just as easily be a bug you picked up but he would want to know. As far as the gas and bloating goes, that is totally normal and to be expected after surgery. The tenderness in your abdomen could be just related to the surgery or it could be a sign of something more serious. Be sure to continue to get your 64 oz of Fluid in a day which will help with your Constipation. You are not bothering the doc, he works for you. He does not want you to suffer needlessly. Godspeed in your healing process.

Call the doctor. Most of the forum members have not experienced what you are describing. Being one hundred miles away from your surgeon should not be considered until you are feeling better. Good luck.

Hi Bexter, I had it done around the same time and have not experienced high temperatures or fever at all. Call the doctor, it's important to make sure nothing wrong. The pain and breathing are also part of my experience but they are getting better every day. Hope you feel better soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
