Julie was asking me if I had side fat so I decided to post a pic of my jelly belly. See how I can pick up the fat and move it - surely they can cut that sucker off!

thanks LJM - but did I tell you the dr wants me to lose more weight before surgery? I don't want to. I'm already a size 10 and I'm pretty happy with my size, 20 more lbs will put me in the normal bmi and my goal is 15 more lbs so I just don't get it, if I'm happy with me why should I have to lose more for him?

steph,

tell him just that ... he is working for you and unless it is putting you and your life at risk, i dont see why he wants 20 pounds...

You're right! He is working for me! I'm going to tell him if he wants me to do the pre-op diet I will but other then that I'm not going to postpone my surgery bc of 20 lbs. Thanks hon, I needed that bit of encouragement tonight, I was feeling ... well... pissed.

My belly is similar, but I have more hang.....and I have the whole FUPA thing goin' on, he explained what and how he would address that, which was one of the deciding factors between the 2 surgeons I had narrowed it down to.....I am calling next week. I hit the mailbox each day holding my breath! If they are going to turn me down, I want to know that oo--------just something!!!!

Thanks for the timeline!!!

I'm totally bummed out today. I talked to the ps office and he wants to see me on the 27th - good grief I wanted to have my surgery before then! Then she tells me he switched hospitals on me, and I said I thought it'd be faster getting in there and she said no bc the other surgeon uses that hospital and so most of the time slots are used up. So then she says it'll be the end of April. I'm so pissed! I told him back in Jan. that I would be going back to work April 1st and couldn't take time off. Now I don't know what to do. Its kind of ridiculous to find a new surgeon at this point. But I'm really thinking about it.

I guess he's that booked.

I've had such an emotional day today - ugh. I was a total bitch to the poor girl at the dr's office and I know its not her fault, I told her I know its not your fault I'm just really disappointed. But I'm sure she probably hates me. I hung up in tears when they said I won't get in until the 27th, geesh how many appointments to I have to go to before they book a date for me? Seriously this is my 3rd appointment and 3 months.

I calmed down, talked to my "boss" and told him I needed to have a 'female' surgery (he didn't bother to get into the details) and he said its ok, I can have the week off - I guess it'll be the end of April - unless they throw another curve ball at me. My sister kinda shamed me.. sisters are like that.. she said well thats not a big deal, its just not getting done as soon as you want it but at least the insurance is paying for a full tt. That humbled me and I'm ok now - still disappointed but I'm dealing with it.

maybe call the receptionist back and ask if you can get a cancellation appointment.

its gotta be frustrating, but you are lucky that insurance is covering it... (lucky lucky lucky!!!)

glad your boss is ok with you taking off ... and it IS female surgery ...

also, maybe see if they will schedule the actual surgery now ... ??? doubt if they would, but it wouldnt hurt to ask.

everything happens for a reason ... this is happening for a reason....

patience sucks, but what are the alternatives??

((hugs))

LJM - did I ever tell you that you're a doll? You always make me feel better. I am on the cancellation list and I did ask if we could schedule now and she said no. On the UP side of all this, while having lunch with my friend, she told me that my doctor is very good, then another friend of ours came in who had gastric bypass and she also said he was very good and that she would go with him... if her insurance would pay it.

I am blessed, sometimes I just need slapped. My sister kinda slapped me when she said everything works for the good of those who serve Him. So maybe I don't see it but in the long run it'll work out.

When it comes to me, you are preachin' to the choir!!! I SOOOOO understand where you are coming from!!! I am just wanting to hear from my insurance! I am calling next week, so knowing that has let me relax a little-----unitl the mail comes, then I get all antsy----just to find I AM APPROVED, for 3 more credit cards, and a car loan to boot! But not a single thing from insurance!!!! Keep thinking, not hearing is better than a denial! Wait.....maybe it is me in denial....what would be new about that????

Hang in there Steph, maybe you will get a cancellation appointment, I got my first one moved up that way, she said they are quite common, sometimes it takes people scheduling them a few times before they get the actual nerve up to come in--------not me I was right there for all of my consults-I am READY!! Just like you!

God......grant us patience....but please HURRY!!!11

I am so happy to have LBT and you all to give me support! When people ask me advice, especially girls from my support group, I tell them get on LBT and find a group who had it done the same month as you, or are going through something simular. You all are great.

I am calmed down now. I have already decided to take a small plant in to the scheduling girl as a peace offering, I feel like crap talking so rude to her. I really believe in respect and she was just doing her job and I wasn't respecting it.

Now I'm thinking I'm going to try really hard to lose 5-10 lbs this month that I'm waiting. Every little bit has got to help.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
