Any April's out there?

Hi all,

Just got my date of 4/9. I've been going through the process for quite a while and it feels good to have everything taken care of. My doc wants me to go on 2 weeks of liquid before the surgery, so I'm trying not to get carried away with eating these next few weeks.

I've been reading this forum for 4 or 5 months now and it has been very reassuring to hear from people who have gone through the same process. I'm sure as I get closer I'll be bombarding the boards with questions!

May 9th is my day :D I cannot wait - but its scary at the same time. I have never had a major operation so this is really new to me. I am getting the procedure done my Dr. Mehta in Somerset Medical Center in Summerville NJ. My doctor did not recomend any sort of diet prior to the surgery though, but I am now going to research the pros and cons of such - if anyone has any insight that would be fantastic! I wish all the newbies great luck on their journies :) and congradulations to all the veterans that have accomplished so much, you are an inspiration to us all!!!!!

I was banded on 4/12 and I encourage everyone waiting for surgery to go on the liquid diet at least a wk before your surgery. It makes it so much easier afterward. I am day 6 post op and still on full liquids but am feeling better everyday. Pain is finally gone, gas under control and able to get most of the required liquid in. It is very exciting to feel like I have control of my eating!

Just banded today. Not in terrible pain but you know you had surgery. I also had the single incision surgery. Anyone else put there had their surgery today??

I was banded today too. I'm at home now. Doing fine. Took very little pain med at the hospital, took one dose of Lortab once I got home. I had the single incision too.

Hey! I'm having surgery on the 26th of April. Still waiting for a time for the procedure...nervous but excited too. Am on day 8 of liquid diet, going well, but hasn't been real easy. Am looking forward to gettng back to normal food, but I know that's a ways away yet.

Congratulations on your surgery!

I saw your recommendation for going on the liquid diet a week before surgery. Can you give more information on how this makes it easier afterward? My surgery is Thursday, next week 4/28. Thanks for your advice.

Awesome my band twin lol. I only took one does of the meds too. I wonder I that's because there is only one incision? Not much gas either

I was banded on April 4 th I was sooo nervous at first but am quite comfortable now I have lost a total of 24lbs and feel just fine most of the time I do find myself getting shap tummy pains for no apparent reason sometimes almost like a quick flu like feeling but it passes fairly quickly I am glad to be making this life change and am excited to see the future me ...and to go to sixflags for the first time ever next summer is my goal i never went because of my weight and the fear of embarrasment if i didnt fit into a ride

I just got banded on the 21st of April and just noticed that I have a tiny bit of bleeding from one of my incisions when I move. Is that normal? I canʻt wait to start losing!
