February Bandsters

I was just checking on my fellow February Bandsters. I'm doing very well now. Had a scare this weekend with sharp pain in abdomen, but it was my fault. I hadn't taken my Prilosec since surgery and the lining of my big stomach was mad at me. All better now. Down 21 lbs. WooHoo!

There is usually a good reason for such delays. Hang in there. It will be here before you know it.

I've been on Clear liquids for a week and would just about kill for some creamy Soup. My guess is in addition to allowing the stomach to heal and the swelling to go down, the clear liquid stage also allows cravings and carb addictions to subside before re-introducing solid food. It has been a long week but hopefully worth it. 12# is nothing to sneeze at.

This is a great site. Already got a lot of useful info from you all. I'm required to do liquid protein for 5 days prior to surgery. It's been 3 days and I'm down 7lbs already!! Having a lot of the same mixed emotions you've described. Looking forward to having an easier time running around and playing tennis carrying a lot less weight. Only planning to take one week off work..... Any thoughts on this?? My job is sedentary at a computer....

Thanks!:smile2:

Hi all, I was banded Feb 13th. I was weighted this past tuesday and was down 13 lbs. I can't wait to feel completely comfortable when I move. this port feels like a foot trying to kick through my stomach

Hello my fellow Febuary Bandsters! I was banded on Feb 4th, and right now I guess I'm down about 20 pounds...but I say my scale is broken because I didn't loose a pound this week! I'm still on full liquids (4 weeks) so I wonder if it's because it was my "time of the month"...but I guess I'll get a better read on this Wed when I go for my first post opp appointment. Wish me luck!

A week should be plenty. I could have returned to work after four or five days if I was employed :)

Thanks for the reply.....

I'll let you know how I do!

I lost 16# on the pre-op diet and since the banding I've lost 7#.

I was on clear liquids for 10-days. I just added protein shakes today. I have had alternating diarrhea and constipation. All normal symptoms it seems. I am looking forward to eating and scared at the same time.

Hey everyone I was banded on Feb 14 by Dr. Rod in Juarez MX! I am down 22 lbs! I didnt do the pre-op diet, so this is all since the band. I started walking on the 20th and everythings going GREAT!! Thanks for all the support!

Way to go, Ms Courtney!!! I didn't have to do the pre-op either. I was just banded Friday and a little swollen, so I'm afraid to hop on the scale just yet. I can't wait.....ok, maybe I can....to start exercising. I am going to walk around the block today though. Hope I am as successful as you.

Well, I'm home. Everything went well but, Boy, I am I weepy. I'm having horrible dreams and major "Night sweats". Anyone else experienced this?

More than likely the dreams are due to the narcotic pain killers. I had really weird dreams when I took it. I had Hydrocodone and I guess it is too strong for me. I don't know about the night sweats, I was just hot but not sweating. If I hadn't taken a fan to the hospital I would have been extremely uncomfortable.

Good luck and hang in there. It gets better.
