Got my surgery date......

Recommended Posts

March 3rd is the day! I'm nervous and excited but SOOOOO scared. I'm worried that I'll be in pain 24/7 for the rest of my life and wont be able to go back to work, etc...... I told my boss today that I needed 3 weeks off but what happens if I'm not OK at 3 weeks post-op? I lift very heavy boxes and stuff like that. Also, I have my pre-op appointment next Thursday, are they going to do an EKG? I hope they do, ya know to be safe, lol. In the paperwork I got it talked very briefly about my diet after the surgery and it said Water, chicken broth and sugar free Jello for 2 weeks. I thought you HAVE to be on liquids for first 4 weeks??????? Also it says I'll probably be staying in the hospital for 2 days. I'm wondering if this was a generic letter given to all WLS patients and that part is meant for Gastric Bypass Surgery patients. I have so many questions I know and I'll have probably 50 more before my pre-op appointment.

Tonight I'm going to do serious research on this site and try to ease my mind a bit. :confused2:

Congratulations on getting your date!!

I received my approval yesterday, now I'm just waiting for the scheduler. We seem to always be waiting for something...

Anyway, I would start writing down your questions and talk to your doctor. They really do have answers for you.

congrats!!! don't be scared. i got a call from the scheduler telling me she was ready to schedule my surgery. wow what a great phone call. you can search this website and get all sorts of info, it is a great site, but we are all individuals and react differently to life and change. fear limits our ability to enjoy what gifts we are given. be informed but don't let fear control you and believe in yourself and the choices you have made. we deserve to be healthy and happy. educate yourself and move forward. again, congrats.

March 3rd is the day!

This is a lucky day :)

Don't be scared... Texas women are TOUGH!!! We have to be to keep all these damn cowboys in line.... lol

In the paperwork I got it talked very briefly about my diet after the surgery and it said Water, chicken broth and sugar free Jello for 2 weeks. I thought you HAVE to be on liquids for first 4 weeks???????

Every doctor is different... mine only had me on Clear Liquids for TWO DAYS... and then modified/full liquids (i.e. runny stuff) for 5 days. After my one week post-op appointment, he started me on soft foods, and by week 4 I could eat ANYTHING I wanted except bread. (I still do not want bread) lol

Sadie,

Your Dr. is cool with you gaining 5 lbs. I am being banded on March 10th and went in from pre-op this past monday. They said I needed to lose at least 5lbs before the surgery otherwise they may cancel it. You think they are just trying to scare me? I hate this liguid pre-diet.

Congrats!!! on your date. My date is also on March 3. I have been on Optifast & Slimfast since 2/19. THis is to shrink your liver. Stay on track. You can do it....... Then after surgery I am 2 weeks Clear Liquids, then mushy stage.

Just follow your Dr's instructions, he knows best.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
