Hello Everyone :tongue2:

I am attending a Seminar on Wed, 02/20/2008 with Dr. Robert and Garth Davis. I was hoping that someone could give me some insight on what goes on at the Seminars. Do you actually meet 1 on 1 with the dr at that time or is just a big group informational meeting? Are there any questions that I should be asking?

Any advice would be good!

Thank you in advance....

~Marie~ :biggrin2:

Yes, make a list of any questions....bring in articles from magazines, photos, etc.

Also, take notes...so bring a notepad and pen.

Usually there is a q and a session...you don't want your questions to be personal...just general.

When you have your initial appointment that's where you can ask personal questions.

You want to know how their practice is going? Any debt/forclosures? Are they married and if so...how is that going?

Is that the father/son doctors from the show Big Medicine? I LOVE that show.

Yes that is the pair from BIG MEDICINE. I watch it all the time. I am not banded yet, but I have learned a lot from their show, once they got around to showing some band surgeries. Thought for a while it was only going to be RNY topics, but they cover Lapband too. Even the daughter (Garth's sister) has a Lapband.

Been to a seminar and it is a general information meeting, describing the procedures, and answering general questions. Specific questions would be addressed in the private consultation with the doctor.

Good luck on your journey.:glare:

Personally, I would never ask a Dr. "how their marriage is going" as I don;t believe that is my business and how my marriage is, is none of their business unless I offered the info.

Debt/foreclosure? Not sure I'd ask that either.

How many lapbands have they done, any deaths? which complications have they seen like slippage and erosion, how many of those and what was the outcome. I would definitely want to know what their fill process is like and how often they are willing to give fills. I dont think any person should wait six months for a fill, unless they don't have hunger and don't need the fill. Does your ins. cover the fills or is it part of the surgery fee and for how long are fills covered under the original surgery payment. Will ins pay for fills down the road, like in one year, if you needed it? If not how much are fills?

Is someone on call if you have problems after the surgery (many surgeries on on Friday). What would they do if you suddenly discovered your fill was way too tight?

I didn't know enough about the band to ask these questions.

That's awsome. I would love to have them as my doctors. Don't get me wrong, I like my doc, but those guys are great.

I saw the episode where the sister was there for an unfill. She's a size 4 now! I want to be a size 4. :-D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
