March 3rd - Anyone Else?

thanks, evansmom. i'm hoping the next fill will require fewer needle pricks too!

as for feeling my port... there's a lump just below my main incision which i thought was my port. but according to my docs, it's really just a little swelling from surgery. go figure. ever since that was pointed out to me, i have noticed the lump getting smaller each day. meanwhile, i was told not to do strenuous ab work. (heh, like i was looking forward to crunches?!) i have switched to sitting on a physioball at the office tho. that's significantly helped my pre-op back pain and it seems like an easy enough thing to do to develop my core muscles. now, if could only see my core muscles! alas, maybe this time next year.

on that note... i can't believe it's been almost a month since i was banded. lord, how time flies!

Hi Everyone,

How's everyone doing? I am getting nervous about my first fill next week because everything has been going so well that I'm afraid to change it. I have lost a total of 21 pounds now since 3/3/08 and I'm feeling good. What I've come to realize is that my weight loss is totally unpredictable- one week I lose 1 pound and the next week I lose 4 pounds. anyone else experiencing this? Just wondering.

Thanks,

Rukshanna

My weight loss seems to be pretty consistent...a little each day. I have been feeling great and haven't had any problems to speak of. I have begun to introduce new foods into my diet, but haven't had any make me feel nauseous or cause any problems.

Glad to hear everything is going well. Looking forward to hearing about your fill. My appointment isn't until the 23rd.

HI, I'm doing pretty good. Feel like my weight loss is slowing down but that's ok I'll keep doing my part. I had my first fill on the 10th and am so glad I got it. I am on to real food now, nothing off limits except raw vegetables and other things that will take a lot of work for my stomach to get down. I'm completely 100% sick of flippen Water. I do miss sweet tea and Sprite. But oh well.....

Look forward to hearing how everyone else is doing.

Hi all;

I am doing well- had my first fill and it helped with my appetite. But i can only eat about 900 cals a day or I don't lose ANY weight. I spent one week or more going up 2 lbs, then down 2 lbs and I realized I was just eating too much. So I cut back and started losing again.

I am eating high Protein primarily but I do get hungry. I have my next fill on May 1 and I need a bit more I guess.

I started a vigorous exercise program last week and man oh man are my legs sore. I kind of overdid it yesterday so today is an involuntary rest day. Just a little walk with the dog, who loves the new exercise program BTW! She is in heaven.

It doesn't seem fair to me but it looks like I can only eat 900 cals a day of protein and must exercise 45 minutes a day to lose. So that's what I have accepted as my new life.

I don't miss food like I used to so the band has really helped in that sense.

I gave up Diet Coke at surgery and thought I would miss it like crazy but I had a sip the other day and it tasted terrible. So that's done. Sugar is not a craving anymore either - thank goodness!

My tastes have changed for the better. Wish I could eat an apple but only applesauce goes down.

Glad to hear others are doing well. Keep up the fight- it's worth it!

Love and strength to you all!

Sadie

Hi hungry4help,

So you've had 3 fills already? Wow! that was fast...my doctor told me to wait 1-2 months to see if I need another fill. I think I will need another fill....I can still eat a little more than 1/2 cup at each meal. I am still losing though, and that keeps me going. I am working my tail off at the gym- at least 4 days a week at 40 minutes of cardio (elliptical & bike). On Sundays I do weights. I can see muscles in my arms that I never knew I had....and I'm sleeping better at night (maybe my sleep apnea has subsided). I am down 27 pounds since surgery, but still have another 79 lbs to go!

congrats on your workouts and weight loss! very impressive.

yup, i've had a few more fills than most. i've been pretty aggressive about getting them from my doctor. i figure, the reason i wanted the band in the first place was to help me control my portion sizes. unfortunately, i have yet to feel the restricted sweet spot so many on this site have described. i'm eating reasonably well (1200-1400 calories), playing tennis or going to spin class 5 out of 7 days, and i'm less hungry than i was pre-op. still, i wanted //and still want// more of an assist from my band.

in fact, i'm debating if i should try for an additional .5ccs in a week or two. am roughly at 6ccs in a 14cc band now and i think another .5 to 1 will do the trick. we'll see what the doc says. but as the patient, i see it as my job to ask for what i want. his job: to let me know if what i want is medically advisable. so far, we haven't disagreed and i'm hoping to keep it that way. :-)

again, congrats to one and all.

fenton: kudos on the book!

Hi All,

You guys are looking great! Slow and steady loss is great...any loss is great! I am still working out steadily at the gym....my Doctor advised me to avoid heavy weights- so I'm back to doing mostly cardio. I had my second fill on 5/28 and feeling really restricted now. Can't even finish my usual 1/2 cup! I can't figure out how to post my before and after pics- it seems to want a URL instead of being able to attach a picture...

Keep up the great work ladies! I think we are all doing great =)

Hi all you 3/3'ers!

Glad everyone is learning to cope with this thing in us. I struggled a few weeks and was just going up 2 lbs and down 2 lbs and not getting anywhere. It was frustrating.

So I joined Weight Watchers and even though I don't count points or anything, the weighing in each week REALLY helps me. I get my fanny in gear a few days before weigh in because I never want to gain.

So far it has worked really well for me. I lose about 1.5 to 2 lbs a week now pretty easily. But I have to walk every day even though I am not eating much. I guess it's my age or something.

My mini goal is 50 lbs by the end of August and I think I can make it.

I haven't told anyone at WW that I have a band and I try to minimize my success. I remember struggling with .2 lb weight loss at WW before the band - I don't want any of those very kind ladies to feel bad. So I play it down.

It's fine - i just want them to weight me in each week. That is so motivating to me!

Best to all!

Sadie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
