Hi All- I am three weeks post op and on my mushy phase. I didnt get enough Protein today plus I have not had a real BM since my procedure. This led to me eat tuna fish tonight (fish was on my list of approved mushy food)

I believe I ate about 3 oz. I am in pain right now and terrified that I have stressed the sutures holding my band in place. Anyone else have any troubles transitioning to mushies?

We don't have a "mushy" stage, but I had no problems whatsoever transitioning to purees and then to soft foods. It takes a LOT to damage sutures, and it doesn't sound like you've done anything that would cause that to happen. In fact, I know my band is not sutured to my stomach at all. I have the Realize band, though.

Perhaps you are having pain from Constipation and gas, which can both cause severe abdominal pain and chest pain.

Speak with your doc. They will probably want to do an X-ray.

For me pain usually means eating too fast - that can even happen with soft foods sometimes. Eat really slowly and see if that helps. I doubt you hurt your sutures after three weeks and eating tuna but if you are really concerned you could ask your doctor. Of course if you ask you know they are going to make you go in!!! First see if you feel better when you slow down.

I've read posts in here that milk of magnesia (MOM) solved their Constipation. Do a SEARCH on "can't go potty." hehe Hope everything comes out well for you. (BTW, I faced the same problem for 4 days with the barium test...and drank prune juice w/success. )

I have milk o' mag, mag citrate, mineral oil (enema and oral), Miralax, and senna. I also eat a bunch of fiber! (I even put Fiber in my jello!) I think I will just have to wait it out so to speak.

but on a brighter note I bet there are a few pounds in there just waiting to drop off the scale!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
