The Tube With A Hole

Hello,

Just been for my first fill. They kept pumping in the saline, then put contrast in and saw the xrays. Contrast spilling into my chest cavity through a hole in the tube between the port and band. Now more surgery is needed to replace the tube.

Anyone ever heard of this before?

Steve

Was this your first fill? If not, are your fills done under fluoroscope? I've heard of people who get blind fills sometime having to have their port tubing replaced because it got punctured by the fill needle.

I have had this very thing. I went in for a fill told the Doctor that I had lost all restriction over the past several months. He put the saline in with the dye and confirmed the leak. I have the tubing replaced, the surgery wasn't as bad as the original. I am glad to have it fixed. The doctor explained to me that it is a mechanical device and that this can happen, although it is not super common, it does happen. I will be able to get a fill the end of the month (insurance makes me wait 90 days, I don't know why)
