LBT Official Cookbook?

Here's an idea I've been throwing around in my head.

What if we all contributed our favorite recipes, and then I typed them up into a cookbook. Then I could have them printed and bound and we'd each have one (you'd just pay the cost of printing/binding/shipping, I'm not out to make money, just compile your recipes ).

I've done this with a couple of my other internet groups, and I ADORE those books! It's great to have a book with recipes that you know people have tried and enjoyed, not just crap people made up to fill a book, kwim?

They wouldn't be anything fancy by any stretch of the imagination, just your typical fundraiser cookbooks, paper with a plastic binding.

If there's enough interest, I'll start another thread with the details. If not, I'll go back to my cave. :frown:

Hi, I am not banded yet but would love to buy a cookbook, thanks.

Karen

This is a good idea and if one person would put them together they can be uploaded to a site like Lulu.com - Self Publishing - Free and turned into a book. The advantage of doing it through an online service like LuLu is each of us could go there and buy our own book from LuLu. We would not have to fork out any money up front.

UPDATE: I've only received one recipe via email, so at this point it's going to be a very short book!

Remember, these don't have to be lap band specific recipes, just anything you make and love! (and can eat - we don't really want a whole book of chicken recipes or anything!)

Once I get it compiled, you'll have your choice between a pdf (FREE) or a bound book (price TBD), so you really have nothing to lose and a great book to gain!

Get those recipes to lbtrecipes@gmail.com ! :)

I would love to be included - if the books are printed I will probably get at least six for my support group. Thanks for the great idea!!!

Jaunderwood - Look, we have almost the same signature/pics - What a hoot!

Angie,

Have you posted your idea in the recipes section? Any other place? I know others would be interested, probably lots of people would be.

Bobbi

Hi, I'm set for banding on March 5th and already researching what I can eat?! I would definitely love a Bandster cookbook. I am not great in the kitchen so experimenting almost always ends with a call to Dominoes--I know, not with a band it won't! I will keep checking this thread to see how it progresses--but count me in, I'll buy the book.

Bumping this up because quite a few recipes have started rolling in, so I think at the very least we will be able to get a PDF file out - which would be FREE!

Remember, these don't necessarily have to be lapband specific recipes, although healthy would be good, and not so much bread. :)

Mexican Cobbler

12 flour tortillas

1 can apple pie filling - no sugar added(or any other flavor you like - Cherry is also very good)

1 stick oleo or butter

1 1/2 cup sugar (I used Splenda for baking blend)

1 tsp vanilla

Cinnamon

Mash apples in pie filling. Fill each tortilla with fruit filling and roll. Place in pan with rolled end down. In a saucepan place butter and melt then add vanilla and sugar (splenda for baking). Pour over tortillas and then sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake 30 minutes at 350 . Serve warm with whipped cream or sugar free/low fat ice cream.

BABY food POUND CAKE

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package moist yellow cake mix (I use Pillsbury 1/2 sugar brand)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (SPLENDA)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 (4 oz) jars any fruit flavor baby food

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 or 10 inch Bundt pan.
  2. Combine the cake mix, brown sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, baby food. Mix for 2 minutes. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 1 hour. Wonderful with a light dusting of confectioner's sugar or with an almond frosting.

I would love to get a cookbook!!

I won't be banded until tomorrow, though.

I'll keep in touch.

I thought about going online and see what comes up for "recipes for lap band patients"...

If I find some good recipes, I will e-mail them to you!

I actually asked my support group tonight if they thought of putting together a cookbook of favorite recipies because its a great idea!! I would LOVE one!!! So if you get this together, look me up!! I actually have my surgery on March 13th and cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
