Sticking To Diet, Gaining Wt!

Recommended Posts

:)

I had surgery 1/24 and the week before I was on liquids and lost 11lbs.Yeah!Dr. told me to weigh daily after surgery and lost 12lb by day 7.Yeah! Weighed on day 8 after starting mushies and sticking to diet plan exactly and gained 1.5lb.Boo! Day 9, gained .5lb.Boo! Today, gained .5lb.What the heck is going on? I could be gaining wt. eating tons of crap like I used to. I am not hungry, but eat three meals a day, no snacking. I am getting in at least 64 oz. Fluid, mostly Water, and for once am honestly following the plan. Getting 50-65 gr. Protein daily. Why is this happening to me? If anyone has had this experience, please give me your insight as to what is going on and how you resolved it. I swear this may cause me to become anerexic!I am paraniod about calories now.

I did the exact same thing and it resolved itself the following week. You can read my thread "I gained 2.5 pounds on MUSHIES!" for more info.

When you aren't eating solids, you don't retain much Water. when you go back on solids, you start retaining more stuff (including water) in your system. So one way of looking at it is that it wasn't entirely fat that you lost on the liquid diet.

By the way, .5 pounds is the difference between my weight before and after I go to the bathroom. In other words, it isn't a significant amount, and not an indicator of real weight gain. Since we're on the subject, don't be surprised if you gain a few pounds before you get your first fill. You have no restriction yet from your band, so it really isn't working for you yet. Be patient; you didn't gain your extra weight in a couple months, and you aren't going to lose it in that time either.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
