Roxanna, good luck with your surgery. I just got back. My port is going to have to be moved in a couple of weeks. It is directly under the wound and just won't heal. Dr says i've lost a lot of fatty tissue and the port is irritating the incision so he wants to move it over to my side where there is more fatty tissue. Oh well....anyway, good luck with yours.

Melissa

Hi All,

I am in Orlando and was banded 12/14/04 in TJ by Dr Lopez. My follow up doctor is Dr Kim at Celebration (Near Disney). He is very good!

Melissa have you had your port moved? Just checking in with you, let us know how your doing.

P.S. I'm in SW Florida and I have been using Dr. Eddie Gomez in Coral Gables for my fills, he is wonderful and quite good looking too.

I did have to have my port taken out last weekend. It is such a bummer! I will say that for such a bad experience, my Dr and his staff at the Molding Clinic made it very pleasant. They are always so good to me there. I was so down in the dumps about losing my port and Andres, the patient cooridnator really kept me up and cheery the whole time. Dr Huacuz gave me a little fill before he took out the port and assured me that it would be able to be put back in in a couple of months. So for now, i'm gonna keep a posative attitude and just do my best to get this weight off. I'm doing pretty good and feel like my wound is healing up great. Thanks for your concern.

Melissa

Melissa I am sorry that you had to go through that, but hopefully the restriction you have now will be enough to get through the next coming months and before you know it, it will be time for you to get a brand new port. Did you have to pay to have the port removed? And will you have to pay to have a new on placed back? I hope not. Well, best of luck and please keep in touch. And again, I am so sorry.

Glad to see someone mention my doctors name. I live in Jacksonville on the southside and I am having my band 5/2/05 from Dr, Cywes. I will let you know how it goes.

Hi... I am in N.E. Florida just outside of Amelia Island. I am using Dr. Cywes in Jacksonville for my surgery.

I have just started the process and have my appt. with my PCP in Fernandina on the 18th to get all of the final testing done and to get his letter to Aetna. I have already had the Psych Eval and the Nutritionist meetings. Hoping for a quick turn around on this as Aetna will no longer cover bariatric surgery once my group policy renews on Nov. 1 !!

Seems like a lot of you on here have gone to Mexico, I have researched that also just in case Aetna doesn't come through !

It is so nice to be able to talk with others that are going through the same thing !

Looking forward to being on here a lot more !

I see Dr. Eddie Gomez in Coral Gables, he takes Mexican banded patients and charges me $300 for a fill w/out flouru, I called other Drs in Florida and they wanted $500 for the first consult and then $750-1000 for the fill, that Is too expensive for me, so I decided to go w/ Dr. Gomez. He is super nice and very experienced, he hits the port on the very first try (my port is sideways so its more difficult, the first fill w/ my surgeon took five pokes and that was under flouru) but Dr. Gomez doesn't have any problems getting to the port and doing my fills, send me a pm if you want his phone #.

Where do you go to get the fills, the cost and the Doctors name.

Lori I had my band put in on 5/2/05 by Dr. Cywes and it has been a breeze. I am drinking without any problems and I can feel the restriction. He was great before and after the sugery and came back that night to check on me again. I feel like I choose the right Dr. Now I just need the weight to start falling off. If you have any questions or you would like to talk email me and I will give you my number. KFPDEW@comcast.net

Hi,

I live in Central Florida and would love to correspond with you Roxanna. I too am considering the Lap band surgery with Dr. Rumbaut in Mexico. Would anyone be so kind to provide me their experience with the lap band procedure and/or Dr. Rumbaut? I would appreciate any/all information that I can find.

Thank you

I am so excited that there are more bandsters in Florida. I had my band surgery done in Nov. 4, 2004 and have lost about 32-34 lbs, I still have another 20 lbs to go and it is taking too long... I am in Southwest Florida and am so happy that there are more bandsters closer to me? Gigglegirl, who are you using for your fills? and how much are they? Who did your surgery? Sorry to be nosey.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
