I'm so scared that once I get the band of pbing. :[

pbing isn't pleasurable, but it isn't something to be afraid of. Actually, if you get something really stuck it is pleasurable, because it usually stops the pain. I hate puking, but pbing isn't the forceful unpleasant event of vomiting.

While you should avoid pbing by eating correctly, and if it is frequent you are either being really bad and/or stupid or you need an unfill. Chronic pbing can lead to slippage, but we all, or at least most of us, have the experience a few times at least.

Yikes, that sounds gross. I'm not banded yet, but in my surgeon's paperwork it says something about eating some meat tenderizer when your tummy's is bad. I guess it would tenderize whatever is stuck down there so it can pass???

Licking pizza seems like the thing to do to satisfy a craving. After having 3 little kids and seeing what THEY can do to a slice of pizza!

I am scheduled for my lap band on Tuesday 7/7 and I'm getting terrified! Did anyone else go through this?

I think the back shoulder pain's the worst. yea that sucks! I Pb'd 3 times. Twice on chicken and once on a bagel (it was in the a.m. and I had a fill a few days before and was much tighter and shouldn't of eaten anything yet). I know your pain.

I like to eat the toppings off of pizza and I will usually eat the crust from one piece. I havent ever had the regular dough though. I am not enjoying it much lately though, because I do not lose after those days.

The super thin Pizza Crust makes it possible for me. Regular crust is a BIG NO NO. The thin crust is crispy like a cracker, and I do so much better. One slice and I'm a happy camper. Doughy pizza will kill ya!

I was afraid of the same thing happening w/pizza. I LOVE pizza. I came across a 'pizza' reipe in one of my WLS cookbooks. Set oven to 375*. Use wheat pita as the crust. Top w/your favorite sauce and toppings. Bake for 12 - 15 mins. I did this last night, took small bites and chewed very slowly. Everything went down fine. For those of you who have trouble w/traditional pizza, you may want to try this.

I've PB'd before and it was HORRIBLE. I feel for you.

When I was in college, I had friends who'd go out mushroom hunting and return with those nice, large, disc-like caps about the size of english muffins. They would frequently be turned into pizza substrates.

Turns out they also have a much more interesting nutritional profile than whole-wheat bread:

Nutrition Facts and Analysis for bread, whole-wheat, prepared from recipe

Nutrition Facts and Analysis for Mushrooms, white, raw

It won't have the crunch factor.. but maybe we can see if Alton Brown can conjure up something along those lines.. :smile2:

My hubs has stories about mushroom hunting, but he wasn't looking for the nutritional value, if you catch my drift, LOL! :)

I'm a vegetarian, so I had mushrooms, olives and grape tomatoes on my pitta pizza. They can be made healthy. Personally, when I think of pizza, I think crispy crust. But, if you are just looking at pure nutritional values, mushrooms in lieu of crust is a great idea. My hubs prefers his drenched in cheese and peperoni. So, for us, the individual pizzas work and we each get what we want.

I've had the portabella (sp) as 'hamburgers' before. Now, I think I'll have to try the pizza thing. As a vegetarian, I am always looking for new ways to try veggies.

Thanks for the suggestion :smile2:

And I'd guess (not yet tried them with the band) they probably are tolerated better by more people.

I used to snack on them and queso, studying for my physics exams. My fellow majors just couldn't wrap their head around mushrooms as a snack, but they dip really well. I imagine blending up some cottage cheese, Tomato, and peppers would have a similar effect.

Occasionally I miss pizza, so when the craving comes around...usually around that time of the month, I will suggest to go to our local pizza cafe. Every dang time I take one bite and then have to go to the bathroom and pb. I will never learn. My husband is now my consious voice and says, "Honey, remember the last 10 times we went, you threw up and told me to never let you eat pizza again!" LOL! It's so funny cuz when it is my TOM, I don't want to hear it and we go anyway. I get so desperate for it that I tell him I will just lick his pizza and not order anything. Well, that doesn't sit to well with him, I tell him that at least I won't throw it up and he won't have to pay for me to get food. His reply is "I got something for you to lick, and its not my pizza." LOL.

OMG, The funniest thing ever. Crazy cause that is exactually what my husband would say.... LOL

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
