First Fill Tomorrow afternoon!!!

Recommended Posts

Was told by my doc's office that I could eat brunch/lunch before the fill. Not sure if I will, I might be nervous tomorrow, but will let you all know how it went. :rolleyes2:

The fill was a piece of cake. I have 4cc in my 10cc band now. Lost 1 pound more.

Doc made me put my hands behind my head and lift up in a sit up position, and it was over. Didn't even feel the needle.

Had to sip a cup of Water, and it went down fine. Have to be on liquids today and tomorrow and mushy pureed food Friday and Saturday.

I have been trying to drink a Protein shake since I am back to the office, which was 2:15, and I am full after drinking maybe 2oz. So, I am happy with the restriction, even though its only been a few hours.

She told me to really pay attention to what I eat and how big the pieces are, and to eat slow and chew, chew and chew some more.

I go back in two weeks.

Glad to hear your first fill went okay. I actually had a little tiff with my dr's office this morning. I called to confirm my appt on the 5th and first they didn't even have me down:angry:. Then I asked if my surgeon would be doing it and they said "more than likely", well I hit the roof. I will not be getting a fill on the 5th unless its my surgeon. This band is my baby!

Backstory- I haven't seen my surgeon since I had surgery on Jan 7, when I had my 1 week followup I only saw him in the hallway. The nurses did my followup. 1 nurse in particular, I guess she's like the head office nurse now is the one that does the followups. She also does all the emergency calls during the week. Well, the phone girl said that she does fills when my doc can't for any reason. I told her that I was a self-pay patient and I was not comfortable with that at all. I choose my surgeon because of HIS reputation, not his office staff. Well, that went over real well. About 10 minutes later said nurse calls me at work, trying to explain to me all the training and such that she has had and how she has specific patients that request her for fills.

Hi Chrisann I'm Shirley, I've read many of your posts, we were banded on the same day, new years eve 07. I will get my first fill in a week or so, I have not been as ''happy'' about my band as others. No real reason , just struggling with it all... My question is "what do I need to do to prepare for the fill ?" I would appreciate any other suggestions you might have, thanks. Shirley

I was told to have my mushy/pureed diet the morning of the fill and I did. Other than that, I document what I eat, and if I am hungrier than usual, cause that is what the doc asked me.She wanted to know where I was on the hunger scale. I guess that is why she was aggressive giving me 3cc's for the first time fill.

Shirley, believe me, I have been struggling all month with complications from all over the place. I have lost 4 pounds since surgery, and you know what, I am damn happy about it. See if you can find my thread on the complications.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
