yesterday i was the queen b____ of PMS and wanted to eat any and everything...after much suffering i got on the website...and felt so much better. even today has been better. this am was stuck in horrible traffic, and instead of getting frustrated i turned up so latin salsa music and got some dancing done while seated in my car LOL...when i finally got to work i was still humming the songs. Better to light a candle than curse the darkness....BABY i want to light up some FLASHLIGHTS!!!!

Peabody..

I hear ya on the b--tch thing!! I have pretty irritable on my pre-op diet....my poor hubby!! But I agree....it's amazing how we are forced to turn to other things than food. I went to the movies with a friend yesterday (saw Juno...totally adorable) and she ordered a big ol buttered popcorn. Although it smelled good, I wasn't DYING to have a bite. Instead, I busted out my Atkins shake and happily sipped it thru the first part of the movie. I didn't even think about the popcorn. Then I came home and my hubby had made a pizza. He was like "Oh god...I'm so sorry I thought you would be home later...I'll hide this from you". I laughed and said "honey, I'm making a life change, I'm going to be surrounded by food everwhere I turn.....I'm just going to go upstairs and get on Lapband talk"!!

Hi Michelle

I've never heard of anyone having to give themselves Heperin shots before surgery. Is this something specific to you or do all your doctor's patients have to do this? Glad I don't! I had to give myself shots for another medical issue for several years and fortunately I don't have to any more. It's no fun. I would probably be a poor diabetic.

Do you have gallstones? Fortunately I have already had that surgery about ten years ago but I am going to have to a hiatal hernia repair during my band surgery. Such fun huh?????

Good luck on your upcoming journey!

Hi Ruby!!!

You and I are band buddies!

I have been doing everything possible NOT to get sick before the 7th. Fortunately, I had already gone through the creeping crud illness a couple of months ago that had me coughing so hard I had to get codeine to stay quiet. It was terrible. I hope that you recover quickly so you are well for your surgery. Maybe the doctor can give you some antibiotics to make sure to ward off any infection?

In the meantime, rest and drink plenty of liquids!!!

HI all, Ok i thought I was the only UNlucky one to catch a nasty cold 8 days before surgery. I feel like Crap. The Dr told me to take Sudafed, but my throat hurts today, and the post nasal drip is so gross. We had a funeral over the weekend, and I bet I caught it from someone there. Well, I have my pre-admit testing tomorrow so we will see what they say. The only problem I'm having is that I am so cold I cannot drink any Water, and I was told by the nutritionist to try to start drinking the Water and stop the diet coke. AND I HATE WATER!!!!!

Ok I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better, and going through this journey with you.

Sorry to all of you who are sick....BUMMER!! Patti...you and I have the same surgery date. I go for my pre-op appt tomorrow as well. I guess if you're gonna get sick before is better than after. I can't imagine it will feel to good to be coughing after surgery. Hang in there everyone and try to get some rest!! I don't have a cold but I'm dealing with some WICKED Constipation (sorry if TMI). Ugh.....it's awful. I powered down some Chinese Dieters Tea...powerful stuff. Hopefully that will "move things along". All this Protein can be a rough one on the digestive system!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
