I'm officially banded, and home!

Well, I did it! So surreal that it is over, and I'm already sipping full liquids! The pain after surgery was pretty intense, especially with the Co2 in my shoulders. I could barely breathe. Then, when they thought I should be discharged, I sat up and passed out. So, the had to put me back on oxygen, and lay down.

Finally, I got to go home and I felt decent. I just had to keep on top of the pain meds and take them before it was time, or I would be mess! By the time I woke up the next day, I was probably 80% better than I was the day before.

I just wanted to be very honest with everyone on the forum, maybe too honest! But, I do feel better as I write, and it's only been 24 hours!

Please let me know if I can answer any other detailed questions!

Hi there I was also banded on the 23rd. This is my second ay home, I was release the nex day, had to stay overnight. I dont have pain in my shoulder but have bad gas pain. I had a GazX strip and it helped a little, but just that a "Little" I just want to feel normal again. I have been walking around and that seems to work a little bit. Do you work? are u planning to back on soon? Im am scheduled to go back on Tues, but not sure right now. Lets keep this thread going so we can chat back and forth. Feel better

Dazzle,

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked in in a while. What made you have to stay the night in the hospital? I know I could have gone either way after surgery, but after a while I knew I would be so much more comfy at home.

The gas pains must be a little by now- ? Mine are very managable, but a couple times a day, I will have to sit down and wait a minute. I would love to stay in touch.

Amy,

Just checking in caught your reply - thanks.

We do sound similar, as well as our husbands - pizza and cookies - YIKES!! Well, it is just the smells because you know you can't physically do it right now. You must be feeling better now - still air bubbles? My air problems are manageable, and I kind of like to feel them because they remind me it's all working.

Do you or any one actually feel hunger? I noticed the most last night (4 days out). Then, I read some literature they gave me after surgery and it said that the Lap Band System only works with solid food. Obviously, that makes sense for the future. But, for now and another week and a half, we can only quench our hunger through liquid, it's hard! I notice that creamy soups (Potato/Leek - yum) really fill me up and keeps "the pouch" filled for longer than protein drinks. Anyone else feel that hungry feeling? Taylor

Taylor,

Yesterday was a great day for me, today, not so much. I can't get any liquids down. I feel my heartbeat in my stomach and it feels very bloated. My stomach is distended. I had a couple of sips of a blended whey/banana shake last night and it was down hill ever since. But I'm not so sure that it is entirely the shake. I have to wear a cpap machine and that forces air into my airway all night. And if feels like I am absolutely full of gas! It is so ugly! I hope this goes away soon. I have only had two popcicles today and that is it, I can't seem to stomach anything else. Glad you are doing fine. Let's keep in touch.
