Hi ALl!

I have gotten some wonderful emails from some of you San Diego Gals! My Dr wants to put in a request for me on the lapband.. But the gastro Dr.s he uses dont do that procedure. So, I am trying to find a Dr that does lap band under Mercy Physicians medical group in San Diego. Through Pacificare HMO. Anyone know how I can find this info WITHOUT having to call insurance?

Scripps Mercy partners with a program called Pacific Bariatrics. When I first started the process I had to jump thru a couple of hoops with insurance. I had to have the surgery done at a Center of Excellence and the only two were Scripps Mercy and Sharp. I'm having my surgery at Sharp on 2/5. My hubby is also going getting banded and he has Pacificare-HMO and is going thru Scripps Center for Weight Management in Del Mar and will have his surgery at Scripps Green (fabulous hospital). Anyway...hope this helps!

Yes, but Pacific Bariatrics doesnt doe Mercy Med anymore. My Dr. found Dr Callery or Dr. Potts that will work with my insurance. The request goes in tomorrow! I am so nervous!

Hi Shannon,

It's a couple of months after your post, but Dr. Callery placed my band on 2-15-2008. My PCP really trusts and respects him. I have nothing but positives to say so far, but I am only a month post-op
