Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Recommended Posts

hey everyone. you can tell the holidays are upon us - we're all busy and not posting! I wish I could have been at the meeting last week, but I had another committment. hope you are all well.

I am wondering if I need an unfill. Let me preface this by saying I will call Leslie on Monday.

I got a fill Wed., 1.5 cc to get me to 7 cc total. I stuck to liquids until supper on Thurs., tried chili. It came back up in small amounts twice, then the rest stayed down fine. I had chicken salad for lunch today, it also came up in small amounts, but not all of it. For supper tonight, chili again, same story.

I don't want to get an unfill too fast and wish I hadn't later. How long do you guys find it takes a fill to settle, or do yours feel the same from day 1?

input please...thanks

Do you think maybe you ate too fast or too much? I would try to pamper your band for a day or two and see how that goes. Eat VERY slowly and pay attention to 'full' signs. If you are only able to eat a couple of bites and still pb'ing then you are probably too tight. Usually when I pb a lot it will take me a few days of really pampering my band (ie, sticking to liquids or mylanta) for the swelling from throwing up to go down enough so that I can really test to see if I'm too tight. Alot of my troubles begin with me eating too fast or too much and then pb'ing and my esophogus getting so irritated that even liquids won't go down. It's really a fine line when you get much past 6.5 cc's. Try a day of Protein Shakes and mylanta and if you can't eat the following day then I'd suggest a small unfill. Are you eating chilli with alot of meat and Beans in it? Usually after a fill if i eat chilli it is the hotdog chilli with no beans and really minced up meat. Let us know how it goes, being too tight is miserable and just basically only delays weightloss, a lesson I've learned the hard way!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that all of you did better than I did about maintaining control. It felt like a week of the old me, no restraints. It's really quite frightening and I sure don't like the results on the scale. I recently told my husband that I wasn't going to worry about trying to loose any more until after the new years and I'd see about a fill and try and shed those last few pounds then, but Thanksgiving showed me that I was only dreaming. If I don't keep focused those last few pounds will be more than just a few.

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing great and that you will all make it through the uncoming holidays successfully.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

I went to see Leslie last week but wound up leaving things the same. I had been able to eat the last couple of meals, so we talked about what I had eaten and decided I didn't really want to be looser. I am happy with the decision, tho I am having to be really careful. I don't want to be able to eat more than I am eating now, and I am willing to deal with whatever I have to in order to maintain where I am. I was honest with Leslie about what and when I can eat, and she was on board with my decision. I am so glad I did not get an unfill, because I was able to get thru the holiday without overeating. I finally feel like my band is working as the tool it is designed to be, so I am very happy with the whole band scene right now. Of course, I am sure there will be at least one holiday party at which I wish I could eat more, but that's okay!

Hi, everyone. I'm new here; 6 weeks post-op, and I just met Leslie and had my first fill 2 days ago. So far, so good. I've lost a total of 32 pounds since beginning this journey! I feel like I've come so far yet have so far to go...I guess I'm just taking it one day at a time.:cursing:

Hi everybody! I just wanted to take a minute to check in. A lot has gone on in the last couple of weeks. Be sure to check out the December Newsletter coming from Dr. B I am in it. I was tickeled to death that he asked me. And my other news is I am sitting here recovering from gall bladder removal surgery. I kept having a pain in my side and nausea so after a ton of testing Dr b took it out today. He is such a good doctor, I feel truly blessed to have him taking care of me.I hope this post makes sense because I am all drugged up and playing online.. Take care !

Yeah Mia, Dr B does alot of other things besides the lap band and I have to say he is very good. I am sitting here right now feeling worse than I did after I had my lap band surgery but with a huge sense of relief that he was able to figure out my problem and take care of it. Take care..

Hi All, I am being banded on Friday and I am both scared and excited....what advice can you all give me that would be a help going in? I cheated a little on my diet but I have lost 20 pounds from consultation to pre-op visit. Plan to have one good meal prior to surgery.....is this a good idea?

Thanks.

You should follow the plan Dr. B gave you for your pre-op diet. He is really pretty lenient so I would just call and ask him. HE does say if the liver hasn't shrunk enough for him to feel like he can safely do the surgery, He WON'T do it. It wasn't worth it to me, so I never cheated but I know several people who had no pre op diet and did fine. I'd just check with him to be on the safe side. Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
