I dont know how much weight you have to lose i did optifast 10 days before surgery and lost 18 lbs but its not easy and no promise how much you will lose. What ever you do stick to it cause you don't want to get there and be cancelled and done some work for nothing you know. So just stick with what ever you do.

What kind of diet does the doctor have you on? I would restrict carbs as much as possible (pay VERY close attention to labels and try to keep them around 30 gms per day) and excercise everyday for 30 minutes. If if it is just a brisk walk. The lbs should fall off.

Good luck!

Yikes, seems very strict. My girlfriend had the R&Y and had gained at least 10 pounds if not more and they still did the surgery on her. I don't think my Dr is as strict but that is a scary thought. I've gained 8 pounds and my surgery is on Feb 19. Had a knee-jerk reaction to the thought of giving up food. But it is about the weight loss
