Hello... I'm Sheri, 46 and I'm an administrative officer for a federal agency in DC. I will be banded on March 12th... gulp! :w00t: Actually, I'm so excited -- a little nervous about the procedure -- but excited and motivated! I've been heavy since puberty, typical yo yo dieting has brought me my highest weight ever. While I've got a lot of weight to loose, I have faith that I will loose this weight and I plan to "get this party started."

Nice to meet everyone and I wish you ALL great success and continued success! :biggrin2:

Hello to everyone in LapBandTalk.com land!

My Name is Shaun and I live in Auburndale, Fl!

Some of you may know of my wife, Staindgal aka Bridget. She convinved me to join up because I need to loose some serious "poundage" because I am a Type 2 Diabetic. I also joined up to continue my support for weightloss and possible Lapband procedure if we can figure out how to pay for it. I will look foaward to posting with everyone and send all the support anyone might need (as well hopefully getting some in return!! =D)

It feels good to be here and I wish everyone the best of luck in the weight loss journey!

Thank you so much, Gibson... nice to meet you and everyone on this thread.

LJM, Good luck on your recovery.

Turler, looks like we have similar kitties... :w00t:

Fenton, I'm awfully sorry about what you went through on 9/11, but very glad to hear that you're also getting the band and feeling more optimistic.

Ginny, congrats on having your adorable son after all you went thru... and good luck with the band as well.

Hi, Gillebean, good luck to you on your lapband journey.

Mazziemommy! Wow... you're weight loss is inspiring... and I hope that you find strength in dealing with your seperation. Life can be so hard.

Welcome, Straindgal and Mr. Juggles... hope you find the answers you need in making a decision about the band.

Hope I didn't miss anyone, if so, not intentional... I am happy to meet you all.

Hi all,

I am hopefully going to be banded at the end of March, depending on how fast insurance approves. I teach 8th grade math, and I am the cheerleading sponsor for the middle school. I have been married for 6 years in June. I have three step children, one 12 year old daughter who lives with us, a 13 year old bipolar step son who just recently moved in with his mother, and a 20 year old step daughter. I have a WONDERFUL dog, Furby. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I have tried every diet known I think. A lady I teach with and I went to a seminar, and we decided to do this together. Then, she decided to have gastric bypass. We are still supporting each other every day though. I have really enjoyed this site because it is so informative. Best of luck to you all!!

I am 36 yr old mom of two (15 and 13), been overweight since my oldest was born.

My husband and I have been together 8 years but were just married a year and half ago, we have no children together and do not plan to have any more (mine are more than enough, hehe)

I haven't been to this site in a long time, I was approved for surgery in September and chickened out at the last minute. I hadn't lost anything on the pre-op diet and the Dr. was not happy with me at all, I got really scared that I might cause myself more problems by having the surgery with complications. I could never forgive myself if I had gone ahead with it and in so doing brought on other medical issues that I didn't previous have.

So here I am in Limbo and not really sure what to do.

Hello again! Yesterday was my surgery. went back about 9:00 and was in a room by 10:45. Went home at 2:30. I am very sore today. The worst pain was the gas pain in my shoulders. Other than that, doing ok. I am so excitied for this new start.

Hey! Deciding on a surgery is a MAJOR decision! Take your time and make choices you are secure with! Take everything one day at a time... Try to impress yourself everyday! That's been my method, as I do not have the band at this time. Just remember that whatever concerns you have, odds are someone here has had the same. Good luck on whatever path you choose!

This was a great idea. My name is Marilyn & I live in Mansfield, Texas, a suburb of D/FW. I am 39, will be 40 in July, and have battled my weight since I gave birth to my daughter nearly 20 years ago. I had a rough marriage, and things didn't get any better once I divorced. I continued to be an emotional eater, which has brought me here. I had my band done on Halloween 07, and have lost 35 lbs to date. I only have the 1 child (she is plenty) she is in college, but still lives at home. I have 2 dogs (Chinese Pug & a Norweigan Elkhound) and 1 cat. I am a Sr. Tax Rep./Operations Control Specialist III for the property tax department @ Citigroup in Irving, TX. I love my job, I have been here a little over a year. Prior to this I've always been in property tax law, but worked for lawyers & state agencies. This is a very long journey & I'm excited to know that we have this website to encourage each other at all times. I look forward to getting to know y'all.

Hi my name is Lorinda. I am 36. I live in Washington State. I will be banded on 3.21.08; and I have started my pre-op diet 3.6.07. I am a bit scared but excited at the same time. I have been heavy all my life, so what scares me the most is "not being me anymore." What is that all about? Anyways, I am glad to have found this site. looking forward to seeing all the successes including mine.

Mazie,

I'm still young and have been told my skin shouldn't be a problem once I start losing the weight. I love to work out so I do plan on doing that. I'm a coach at a high school and my seasons are coming to an end so now I'll actually have the time to do it. And if I could lose 120 like yourself it would definatly be easier to work out. I was wondering if you have started to experience any problems with your skin. I saw you posted something on another thread, and to be honest I might have already posted something similar to you. Please let me know about the skin, it is truely my worst fear!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
