Sounds like everyone is doing great.

Welcome Madegraw. I don't post as much as I should, but I'm always lurking. If you need anything just ask.

Don't worry about weight stalls. They happen, just don't let it get you down.

Judy

thank you both for the welcome.

thanks for the doing ok and letting me know stalls are normal.

about myself, well I live in MN now but will be moving to AL come June. I came to MN from FL because my son went to, as they say the sand box, 5 years ago to help my daughter in law with the kids. My health was not good and I found the health support hear was better than FL so I stayed. Well now my son is being transfered to Alaska and I am not going any further north. I have friends in Alabama so I am going there.

I have a 13 1/2 year old shi zu and a 2 year old siamese cat.

I love animals, except mine forgot they are pets and think they run me. LOL well they really do. The cat thinks she is human and is a real pest loves everyone.

My health is improving already. My type 2 diabetes is history already and my blood pressure meds have been reduced by half. My joints are still bad and exercising is really hard for me.enough for now I am just happy I found this posting for people my age.

Glad to meet you. I was born in North Dakota, but moved to Maryland in 1967. I lived there until 2006. I now live in Florida. SO, kind of reverse from you. I still have many family member sin Minn/North Dakota are. I am sorry, I will never go back North. I do not like cold, snow, and ice.

I had my surgery on Oct. 30; and had my 1st and only fill so far, at the beginning of Dec. I have restriction, but get hungry too! Good luck with your journey. Karen

My name is Judy and I'm just the reverse. I lived on the Jersey Shore for 60 years. Moved to Kansas two years ago to be with the man I've loved since 1968. If all goes to plan, we're moving back when (and if) we sell his house. I still own a shore house and I miss the Ocean.

Hi Madegraw: I am 66 also. Tell us a bit more about why you think you are stuck for the past few weeks. Have you been recording food and exercise to give you a picture of your weight pattern during the month. For Instance, I gain up to 5 lbs in the monthly cycle so I know if I have lost by seeing the highest weight decrease along with the lowest weight. Yes, I still gain Water even though menopause has long since come and gone. The other thing you may try is to increase your Protein intake and decrease carbs. Are you eating 6 mini meals? If not try it. I drink a Protein supplement for lunch with 3 ozs of shrimp. Just a few ideas and I am sure others will chip in.

Madegraw, hello...

I am a couple of months behind you, I was banded the week before last, so I have no comment ... you seem to me to be doing great! Your improved health is significant.

I loved the description of your cat, cats have a reputation of being very aloof and reading that you have a really friendly one made me smile. 25+ years ago we had a very friendly cat, as well, and I still miss him.

Congratulations ... 34 lbs ... I can't wait until I have lost that!

Hello all . . . would like to be in this group . . . I turned 62 yesterday and it's good to hear from those closer to my age. I was banded on Jan. 12 in Atlanta at Emory Midtown Hospital. Lost some weight prior to surgery w/pre-op liquid and have lost around 16 lbs. so far. I don't see my doctor until Feb. 12, so I don't know what to expect between now and then regarding hunger, etc. when all the swelling goes away; so I don't know if there will be a fill on th 12th...how is that determined? Looking forward to sharing on this group. Thanks for reading this!

Hello Barb,

You sound like you are doing fine.

Good luck to you. I have been banded since 10/30/2009. I have only lost 16 pounds since I was banded. But, my Dr is very proud of my loss. I lost 8 pounds since my 1st fill 5 weeks ago. He did not fill me today. He was surprised that my 3.3 cc fill did so well. Best of luck to you. Karen

Happy birthday twice. One for the band and two for your birthday. What a terrific present. Good luck on your journey. As for your hunger, try sipping on some form of tastey drink like nestea. That way you get your Water as well as helping the feeling of hunger dimenish.

Welcome Barbara! We are glad to have you join us. Sounds like you are doing very good so far. I'm certain your doctor will work with you to determine when you need a fill. Every one is different. Just remember it's not only how much you eat, but what you eat. Stick with the healthy lean Protein, and low fat dairy. Stay away form the fats and the high carb foods., and track everything you eat. Keep up the good work, and keep in touch. We are all hear to help and support each other.

Thanks to all for your welcome and comments. Before surgery, during the liquid nine days, I did keep up w/what I was having/time/date. But after surgery, and now today when I begin soft stage, I haven't kept up except in my head (bad idea, I know, as it never worked before!! :)). Good idea to write it all down! Thanks for mentioning this.

There are a number of places on the internet where you can track what you eat. I use a free website - www.sparkpeople.com, and I believe you can track at www.fitday.com. I find that this is a easy way for me to track my food, because it adds up my calories, and Protein, etc. I also track how much liquid I am drinking. Keeping a record of what I eat truly helps me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
